This kind of "celebrity dating an NFL player" junk has been going on as far back as Terry Moore dating L.A. Ram halfback Glenn Davis...or Joey Heatherton and Lance Rentzel. Nobody remembers them...right? But they were the "hot topic" during their time.
Here are some fairly recent ones that everyone has forgotten. I mean...how many people remember the big affair of Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush?
Or Olivia Munn and Aaron Rogers?
Or Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo?
And the list of celebrities dating NFL players goes on. Swift and Kelse will be the hot topic for a while, then after the newness wears off and they aren't getting the hot publicity anymore, he'll fall back into his "unfaithful" habits and we won't hear about the couple again. Just like the many others before them.
Then another celebrity will start dating another NFL player and the press will have someone else to spotlight. Ad infinitum, ad nauseam.
