Honestly, Is the modern safety that big of a deal?

The lock and I don't mean "safety" sucks. It sucks philosophically, materially, essentially, and aesthetically. That said I own 3, but I wouldn't bet my life on any of them if I had a choice, and happily I do. /b

    My stainless Smith's

Here's a couple of stainless model 64s I posted recently in a different thread. I saw my first one of these on the 5th Floor of The Men's Store at Marshall Field & Co. in Chicago. I was probably running an errand for my Father's business and stopped by the 5th floor of The Men's Store to drool...

Does having a non-matching serial numbered box, add anything on a resale of the gun?

for me it would add nothing above the value of the box itself. /b

    629-4 question

These days any N-Frame under $500 is a steal. Good job! /b

What model is this and what is it worth?

I'm not sure I'd call that 95%. On my personal scale it looks in fair-good condition. For me that's used, carried, and finish worn, but mechanically sound and tight. I.E. not abused (broken, bent, dropped, screws buggered, rusted, loose, etc). There literally are a zillion of these model 10...

Congrats and I agree. You now have the best barrel profile S&W ever shipped on a fixed sight 3 inch revolver. /b

Real case coloring, manufactured with modern CNC tolerances and without the dreaded LOCK! That's a winner in my book. Enjoy, /b

    Ronald Reagan's Model 29

In the early '80s my pal Tom and I were fortunate enough to have gone through the advanced class at The Chapman Academy with some of President Reagan's Secret Service detail. The only hand-gun they told stories about the President shooting was his Gyro-Jet. He may have used others, but I think...

    DOB, Model 64 Pencil Barrel

It's the photo, which is slightly out of focus, having been shot through a wide open lens with anti-shake on. The grips aren't original to the guns (one was wearing rubber when I purchased it) but they are right for the period and model. As for the finish I really didn't do much at all except...

    Grips Without Medallions?

Hey, how did a Chicago cop's gun wind up in Alabama? /b (the rubberbands are the giveaway)

What model is this and what is it worth?

An interesting thing about the Remington 51 is it's generally considered to have the best handfitting gripframe of any magazine fed pistol. Oops! look like somebody already mentioned that. Once again I'm the Department of Redundancy Department! /b

    DOB, Model 64 Pencil Barrel

Actually the photo is pretty deceptive. I think the top one is 90% at best, and the bottom one is pretty well worn. In fact the bottom one's so holster worn the barrel is burnished bright instead of the factory satin. Frankly, I was fairly amazed at how good they look in this picture! In fact...
