    shield Plus Magazines

I signed up with 4 different online sellers to be notified when the Shield Plus mags came in. Got notified by Tombstone Tactical but as I wasn't sitting on my computer, I was too late. Email came in at 11:30 AM and already by 1 PM, they were sold out. PSA notified me today that they'd gotten a...

Have I ever mentioned how much I detest leaf blowers

Ditto. A lifetime of trumpets and drums has done a pretty good job of wrecking my hearing. I try to save what's little of it when I run my weed whacker and leaf blower, not to mention the zero turn. Gotta another 3 months of yard work season and I'm so ready to put all that equipment up. I...

Did he kill all those Germans?

To the question whether Speirs actually murdered those German prisoners after offering them a cigarette, please take a look at this interview with Dick Winters in the early 2000s. He was specifically asked that question and his response is remarkable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-V6OAtgr6c

Did he kill all those Germans?

Foreign Badges for Officers Correct. The last time I checked AR 670-1 (the Army regulation on uniform wear), the only BADGE I specifically know of that officers are not permitted to wear is the German Army Schützenschnur (weapons qualification badge) in either Bronze, Silver, or Gold. That...

Did he kill all those Germans?

Spiers and "Governor" of Spandau Prison I've read numerous accounts that Ronald Speirs, who stayed in the Army after WWII and retired in 1966 as a Lieutenant Colonel, was appointed as "Governor" of Spandau Prison in the British Sector of West Berlin. I was assigned to the Berlin Brigade in...

    Military vets, and their/your tattoos...

Another 20-year active duty Army guy with absolutely no tats. And it's gonna stay that way. Tats, along with "man buns" and facial hair -- not my style.

    WANTED: Mower Advice

Ditto, except mine is 54". Bought it to handle 2.5 acres (very few trees), but am now down to 0.5 acres (more trees). Good, solid deck. Have done nothing to this mower other than engine and transaxle oil and filter changes and a couple spark plugs in the Kawasaki 730cc engine. Belts are fine...

Ruger GP100 came home with me

My only Ruger is a Redhawk in .44 mag. Smooth grips that I definitely had to change out to Hogues (I think) which definitely helped. I've always been a fan of Ruger revolvers. Built like a tank, when you need a tank. Congrats!

Now I really know that I am getting OLD.

Couple the @#$%^ scrapes with the bruises from who-knows-where, along with the basal cell carcinoma extractions (gleefully removed by any number of dermatologists), and don't get me started about the friggin' fiber thing, and what do you have? A geezer in training! Ain't quite there, but I'm...

California pig rules could cause BACON to disappear

Wow. But I shouldn't be surprised. It's California, after all. Glad I don't live there and if I did, I'd be packin' up the ol' mule and heading east. Destination anywhere but California.

Changing positions within my company (advice needed)

Agree wholeheartedly, and if there parts of the gig that are just meh, consider expanding the scope of your present gig. IOW, do more than your present gig requires -- that is, if that kind of thing is allowed. Forgiveness is ALWAYS better to get than permission. If they don't like it, they'll...

Karma for WWII history buffs .

I'm Probably Too Late... But the worst that can happen is to be told, "nope." That's fine, and I appreciate the offer anyway. That said, I wrote my own book, but it ain't got nothin' to do with PT boats (who can say "No" to three Packard V-12 engines?). Apparently the direct link to Amazon...

    Challenge Coins

I have only 5, 4 of which were presented to me in Berlin. Was stationed with the Berlin Brigade (298th Army Band) from 1983-91. The coin in the center was presented at my last assignment before retirement. I was assigned to 1AD twice in my career - the first assignment to Germany (1979-82) and...

    New fee on GB....

The last firearm I purchased through GB was an unmitigated disaster. GB's internal calculation of state sales tax was horrendously incorrect and it drove the seller nuts. He did right by me, but not because of GB -- in SPITE of GB. That firearm was the LAST one I will ever buy through GB.
