M10-10 police trade in round or square?

The only way I know to be sure if it's a round or square butt is to remove the grips. Most grip sellers have photos to compare to be sure you get the right ones.

    My 586 one year later

You might want to look at Altamont grips. I have a set of the Classic panel with medallions in Super Walnut on mine. They were only $48. I don't see the Super Walnut offered on their web sight now though. They have a new classic look that I think matches the new classic revolver.

    My thoughts on ILS Guns

The prices on the new guns scares me more than the lock.

what year was this model 10-5 made

Most people use X's as placeholders to indicate the correct number of digits, such as DXXXXXX.

    Model 10-7 Price Check

I've heard many people call an older gun in good shape a "Chief's gun" due to the lack of wear. This is probably what was meant.

Smith&Wesson 686-6 maintenance, storing, and cleaning

I hope you have some sort of gun rug or sock to store it in. Maybe some one with more knowledge can suggest something.

    Fair trade for model 19

You may want to do a search on here for the revolver check-out procedure. When you look at the gun, you want to check for things like hammer push off, end shake, etc.

    Side plate interchangeability

If you are going to Cerakote them anyway, could you fill the stampings with something like a soft solder?

If you had to pick just one section here on the forum?

I start in the 1961-1980 forum and work my way through the rest. Sometimes it takes a while.

    Just another old Model 10

That would keep me interested, too. I don't think I would have let that one go either.

Are these grips ok for Model 10-14?

Lots of conversion grip options out there but they will be either the combat or target style which are larger than the magna style you have pictured. Altamont and Ahrends are just a couple. I would check out the Classifieds forum here to see what you can find.

    Snap caps

Be careful while shopping for rim fire snap caps. Many are labeled "not for dry fire...". Unlike center fire snap caps with a spring loaded center, most rim fire are solid with no way to absorb the shock.

    My 19-4 (Pics)

The Model 19 is one of my favorites too. Here's a pic of mine. Not sure if the stocks are original and they are a little big for my hands but I love the way they look.

1968 10-5 with 5 inch barrel. An uncommon barrel length?

    Here's my 10-5 5". I believe it shipped around 1969 or 70.

    Turn line off center

Thanks for the replies. I haven't noticed any problems with the function but I do wonder if this related to this being a newer gun.
