    My new Revolver

No combat grips. This is a cool old gun. Leave it as-is, except for getting rid of the rust if you can.

    Advantages of different models

I have a model 28, a model 17 and a model 66. But my favorite revolver is my 5" model 15. Perfect balance, very accurate, just feels great in my hand.

    Model 28 value

I agree, $500 is a reasonable ballpark. I just bought a 6" in much nicer condition for $535, but the 4" are worth a $50 to $75 premium I think.

    Ammo Prices at Gun Show!

I walked into Sportsmans Warehouse here friday morning and they had several cases of 22lr, Rem golden bullet. $23 per 525 brick, one per customer. Apparently they release their new ammo every friday morning.

Model 27-2 with top strap cutting

Decided to pass on it. Holding out for a 5" in nicer condition.

Can Someone Measure a Model 19 Box?

If just the box is shipping, they are pretty light...won't be that expensive even regular priority. If the boxes are full of model 19's, the $15 is immaterial.

    new gun owner

I think the 38 S&W has an OAL of 1.24. See .38 S&W - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for deimension data. They have some at AIM Surplus for $17.95

Model 27-2 with top strap cutting

Just saw this in a pawn shop. Model 27-2, 8-3/8" barrel, target stocks with football cutout. Gun is in pretty nice shape, good lockup, good timing, no forcing cone damage, except...some bluing wear on both sides of the tip of the barrel, and a faint cutting line etched in the top strap at the...

Not too many around here will get excited about glocks.

    27-2 questions-Deal made-Pic added

That is a very desirable gun, the kind that tends to get really run up in auctions. $800-$900 most days I would guess. Don't let it get away.

Picked up a 66-1 from a young gentleman

Nice. That's about $600 net for the gun, which is about right. I've been looking for one for a while, without much luck.

Meaning of these barrel markings on 19-5

This is for sale on GB, looks nice. But what is the meaning of these markings? The first one is a flaming bomb, the second might be a "3" superimposed on an "L", the third I have no idea, and the fourth looks like "CHOSIN". I've heard of these kind of markings on ww2 era guns used overseas...

Beware of an M28 being claimed to be Brushed Nickle

It looks like bidding stopped at $600, below the $899 BIN and below the reserve. People who would want a nickle HP are probably also smart enough to be suspicious of a listing that says "this is not a forgery" according to some unnamed "S&W historian."

    27-2 3-1/2" Blue - What's it worth?

Smith and Wesson currently charges $275 for the "high bright polish" blue refinishing. See Precision Gunsmithing - Smith & Wesson I think rockrider's estimate is low. Even in poor cosmetic condition, any model 27 with good internals will go for for $500+.

    Model 66 questions

Model 66s have a cult following. Your gun is probably worth at least triple what you paid for it, if not more.
