Savage 93R17

I recently bought a Savage 93R17 and I can't stand the stock on this rifle. When i shoulder it, it feels like i'm holding youth model rifle.

Does anyone feel the same way about this rifle?

Today I ordered a Boyd's Rimfire Hunter to replace the OEM ***.

The stock that you ordered is a good stock.
I have the stock model with the stainless steel barrel. The original stock fits me really well.
 
She's beauty Joe.

I was looking at that stock and decided on the Rimfire Hunter, because I'm a lefty and my son (9yo) is a rightie.

When he gets a little older and is ready for his own rifle, I'm going to put together something nice, just for me.

I like the fact that Boyd's makes left handed stocks for right handed actions.

You paid $225 in stainless and with that stock?

You STOLE that rifle!!!

I had to order mine at the LGS and paid $245 in blue and synthetic.
 
I don't know beans about left handed stocks.
I do know that when I bought my 93R17-BV that I didn't want one with the infamous "tuperware" stock and that I didn't care for thumb-hole stocks for a field rifle.
That's why I went with the BV - the blued model with the bull barrel and the wood laminated stock. I couldn't get past the glock spring thingy on the Accutrigger so I replaced it with a Rifle Basix trigger.
This rifle & the .17HMR cartridge are absolute death on ground squirrels and crows.

Best part? I played a $10 scratch off ticket on the way to my buddies gun shop and won $500. Paid for the rifle and some ammo and was still $250 richer.

Nice scope. Any idea if it comes in silver?

I don't believe they do come in silver.
Cheapo but adequate - I've had this scope on a couple of different rimfire rifles so I know it's repeatable.

I thought I was imagining things mine feels the same way, I thought about adding a recoil pad

I added a 1" recoil pad and that little change made it warrant a cheek rest. I have my fingers crossed that the new Boyd's stock will make it all better. For some reason, .17 Hmr is not a popular caliber in the north east. With that being said, I read the reviews and ordered it without being able to try it on for size.
 
I have a pre-accutrigger 93 with the wood stock. I had the same scope that CH47 has on it but took it off. I bought a BSA sweet 17 scope and put on it. What a mistake. The Tasco was a much clearer scope. I bought my son a 93 with the accutrigger and Tupperware stock. I put the Tasco scope on his rifle. He really likes it although he doesn't care for the accutrigger. I have seen this scope for like $75. I have the Target/Varmint 6x24x42 with mil-dot reticle. It is well worth it.

CH47, are you glad that you changed out the trigger? I was wondering if it was worth it to change out? Sorry Op, CH47 can you PM me with a answer if you don't want to post a reply. Thanks.

If that happened to me, I wouldn't leave my house cause I know a lightning bolt would come out of nowhere and vaporize me.

Yep - way worth it.
I really didn't like the glock/spring thingy Savage uses for the Accutrigger. If you don't have an exact straight back pull on the trigger, it'll click but won't fire, then it needs to be recocked.
I've got the Rifle Basix trigger set to break at approx. 1.5 lbs., the lightest trigger pull I could get on the Accutrigger, without cutting coils off, was approx. 3 lbs.
Rifle Basix makes a replacement trigger for both the pre-Accutrigger and Accutrigger models.

Back on thread - I and my friends/family liked the .17HMR round so much that I finally had to buy another one so I wouldn't have to share.
