I got to thinking yesterday about how happy I've been with my rifle and how the mods I've made suit my preferences and style of shooting... Also, how things like my G2S were always on my list but I didn't know if I'd ever get.

So, what is your favourite modification you've installed and what's that dream mod that you've never managed to acquire?

Hmmmmm,

Perfect mod for me would have to be when I installed the CMC trigger, just love it.

Dream, well I very happy with my current set up; Magpul SL stock, Hogue beaver tail grip and a Vortex 3x spitfire. Been like that for almost 2 years. (which is a long time fer me) Works very well for what I do with it.

My best mod is actually two mods (stamps), but they go hand in hand. That would be the Sparrow suppressor and the SBR to keep it from being too long & unbalanced. Yes metal AR handguard & CMC trigger are way nice, but nothing beats shooting so quiet the wife doesn't complain & the horses don't spook.

Embarrassed to say I have or have tried all my dream mods. :o

Gotta agree with redneck. We have an integral suppressor conversion that basically does the same thing for 1 stamp - it's a ported 10" barrel with a pinned 16" suppressor, so not technically an sbr. Weighs 4 oz more than an unmodified 15-22 without suppressor.

Only issue is that this suppressor cannot change hosts. That's why I'm a stamp collector with 3 other suppressors and a 5th on the way...

Mine can switch hosts but I still have 2 Sparrows... but then again, I have five 22s that can accept the Sparrow. My Octane 9 came in last week and after I play with my 9mm Sigs, gonna try it out on the 15-22.

Picatinny rail handguards and a flattop receiver really extended the versatility of my M4. A Trijicon Acog optic is my dream addition. They are truly excellent, but the price is dear...

By far the most practical addition i have made has been the BAD lever and changing the grip to a Hogue made a very big improvement for me. (anytime now for my new trigger...seems to be taking ages  )

Regarding what would i like dream-wise. Would be a long list so i'll condense it.
Diamondhead handguard,
Trijicon RMR,
Vortex scope,

I'm looking at the Magpul SL stock as well but there seems to be some controversy.

By my determination, my 15-22 has a mil spec tube but around the 'net I'm reading that many have replaced using commercial spec buttstocks which they say, "fit like a glove."

Which did you use and how does it fit?

TIA.

I used the milspec size and it works fine, very nice fit. Have been banging on it for bout 2 years and the fit is still good.

I suppose either one would work, the measurements very close. I'm inclined to think that the factory tube on the 15-22 is milspec and that the factory buttstocks are not. Mine has a little play in it.

I read where some like using a commercial spec stock on a milspec tube because the play makes adjustments easier/quicker.

Do you find it cumbersome or too tight when making adjustments? Just curious.

But alas, since mine has to be pinned anyway, tighter is probably better. I'll probably go mil/mil.

Thanks for that info, it's always good to hear first-hand experiences rather than myths and rumors -- I really appreciate it.

Currently I have a Mil-spec Magpul CTR on my 15-22, and I still have to use some tape to shim it tight. I had wanted a MOE version but a great deal on a 15-22 with 3 shots through it had me getting the standard 15-22. In hunting for an MOE I came across a CTR PTS stock dirt cheap that I hoped would totally eliminate the wobble I was already experiencing. Now it could be that it's a PTS produced milspec rather than US magpul production stock but I'm suspecting that the stock is at the max production tolerance and the tube on the rifle is at the minimum tolerance limit that is letting it still wobble when locked down.

For Dream mods, short of a few tax stamps mine is really close to being done.
Still have a few parts to install and then recoating everything to have it wrapped up.

Most of what I could dream of I already have or have done,
Sound Mod
NDZ SBR
Bad AZZ Ambi Safety
KNS 15-22 pins
Kineti Tech Shroud
ATI Scorpion Grip
AFG2
ACOG and Eotech for swap rounds as and when I feel like a change
Magpul MS2 sling
Tacticool T Bar with NDZ Latch
Odin XMR mag release
10 Mags

what is there really left to do???

Not a lot really......

However, as I get bored sometimes and think what about.....

Now looking at a change of furniture, Maybe the New Hogue stuff, Lava Red in the Ghillie Pattern looks cool so would need the Tacticool Barrel nut for that..

Maybe a 12.5 inch Barrel if I stick with the Quad rail though change it to a quality alloy one.

New trigger set

Tacticool Ambi Handle is en -route

The only problem with a mind thats a wondering is that there are so many things that can be done given time, patience and of course lots of cash :D:D:D:D:D:D

Very happy with my super accurate 15-22 MOE :D but there is always something to try....

I don't feel it's too tight to deploy the stock. I personally like the tighter milspec version, no wobbling around when I get my face into it. But then again I only adjust it twice at a range session, "out of the bag / back in bag." ;)
