There have been a few plumbing horror stories recently, so I thought this might be a useful "FYI" which I came across on Toolguyd, a tool website I visit often.

Blue Monster Compression Seal Tape for Emergency Plumbing Repairs

As you will see from the comments, there are a number of self-sealing repair tapes out there. I keep a roll of E-Z Fuse tape (available at Home Depot) on hand and it seems to have similar properties as regards strength and temperature range.

I can speak from experience that flex seal tape works. I’ve never used it on a supply line that was under pressure but it works great on drain lines. Also, last deer season a trespassing hunter put a shotgun slug through my friends above ground pool. Flex seal tape stopped leak completely. He put it on inside of pool under water.

I'm not familiar with that product but it sounds like a winner, esp. if it can be applied under water.

I've used Bimini Bandage to repair the vinyl seat cover on my mini excavator and it's pretty durable.

I always wondered if Flex Seal works as good in real life as it does on TV. They even took a metal boat frame work and used their Flex Seal Duct Tape to wrap the frame and then the outboard race boat speeds across the water with no leaks?

My favorite is wrapping the lower 2' of the house in the flood plain. No need to reach for higher ground anymore, Ma.

I have acidic water and was always coming home to leaks. I kept
short pieces of 1/2" heater hose, cut a slit in them, and put them right over the leak with a hose clamp as a temporary fix until I felt like sweating in a piece of pipe. Worked like a charm.

Most of the world's problems can be solved with one of two things, WD-40 or duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape.
