50% increase in Eight o'Clock Coffee over night!

Amazon’s food prices are bizarre. Often they’re 3-4x higher than local stores, for no apparent reason.

I like Aldi’s German roast coffee. Cheap and with good flavor.

I'm a pretty darn good shopper and if you can find the 30 ounce bags of COLUMBIAN PEAKS Eight o'Clock coffee for less than $14.54 PLEASE let me know. I have not seen a better price anywhere. Publix (our local Supermarket chain) sells 10 ounce bags of the same coffee for the same price as I get the 30 oz. from Amazon - normally at least. Walmart sells it too (same price as Amazon), but they almost never have it in stock or if they do, maybe 1 bag.

That said, a 50% increase over night is ludicrous!

NOW: get a load of this! I just went onto Amazon and the price is back to normal!??? WTH!?? I ordered a bunch!!

Lots of “pounds” of coffee are now 12oz. And yet the price still increases.

Papa

Drought and frost have had a devastating effect on Arabica coffee bean production.

The coffee bean commodity market price for Arabica beans has gone from $1.46 to $2.51 (over 60% increase in a month).

There were warnings last month that prices would rise globally.

Maybe Juan Valdez threatened to grow some other product if he didn't get a better price for his coffee beans.

I have learned to avoid 3rd party sellers on amazon totally. My experience when I used them is that often the product is out of date, the shipping delivery is usually twice what is quoted in the listing.\, and on occasion the item has been repackaged, suggesting a return or a breakdown of a larger box quantity

Amazon doesn't always have the best prices.
Our local Walmart has this in stock right now...

Amazon uses dynamic pricing, along with strong arming its third party vendors to adjust their own pricing to parity or lose their « buy * button.

Blame the algorithm, not nefarious forces.

8 O’Clock was originally one of the A&P house brands for their coffee. There were several others which I do not remember. When I was a kid, A&P had the only supermarket in town. I remember the bags held unground roasted coffee beans, and they had a coffee grinder in the store you could use to grind it as fine as you wanted. Or you could take it home and grind it yourself if you had a coffee grinder. I believe A&P no longer exists, at least not under that name. Definitely not in my part of the country.

Bokar and Red Circle were the other A&P house coffee brands. I guess that they were other bean varieties or blends. A&P ceased operations in 2015.
In Michigan A&P disappeared in the late 80's early 90's. They did buy Farmer Jack grocery stores from the Boreman family in the late 80's, but they ran that into the ground also, those closed in the early 2000's.

I don't drink coffee, so I do not pay attention to coffee prices; however, I know what I pay for my tea bags or tea K kups has not taken a dramatic increase in price. In fact, I ordered tea yesterday and the price was the same as a month of 6 weeks ago.

I like coffee and chicory. I can get 13 ounce bags for around $3.50. I also get Reveille Brand coffee at the PX for a much lower price than the other stuff.

$14.54 for me too. They just know from your orders that you're addicted and will pay any price to have your fix.

Yes! That’s how the dealer works. Once he gets the junkie hooked anything goes.

The only thing this thread has taught me is that I now have to try the “PEAKS” version. I’ve had the regular version many tops and never thought it was anything special.
