What happens when the guy next to you lobs a fresh 9mm case down your shirt.

9mm shaped burn mark. That's pretty good.

"The victim was shot with a 9mm."

"How can you say that, the bullet hasn't been recovered yet."

"I can tell by the burn mark on his chest."

You know what's REALLY funny? A girl shooting with a low cut blouse and catching one in the cleavage. I've seen some of the best dance moves ever created.

I catch a hot one occasionally at the range. But mostly I get peppered with sideways ejecting cartridges, especially outdoors where there are no separators. It can be really disconcerting when you are trying to shoot with somebody rapid-firing shells at you.

I've had hot brass down my shirt a few times. It will get your attention. Had one case get stuck between glasses and forehead. Fortunately didn't get in my eye. More than once had a round ejected into my pocket.

I used to have a Taurus 9mm that invariably bounced the last round of every magazine off the top of my head. Every other round ejected well to the right, but for whatever reason that last round came straight back.

I've seen a buddy dancing all around over a .22 case going down the back of his shirt. He wanted to beat the snot out of the guy shooting the .22 pistol next to him.

I know a guy with a funny looking scar on his neck. He said he was at a field shoot one day and they were engaging pop up targets at varying ranges. He was deeply into what was going on down range and felt a stinging burning sensation on the left side of his neck. That faded and he kept shooting. At the end of the stage he reached up see what had happened to his neck and found an empty .308 brass stuck to his skin. Left an odd long looking scar. If he'd been standing, vs. prone, the case probably would have just hit/burned and fallen off.

I was at the range with dad for an IPSC Match when I was about 14.. I got hot brass on my arm for a millisecond, yelped, friend's wife that was competing and about 5'-2" and VERY well endowed said "cowboy up boy" and pulled down here shirt enough to show the 45acp "butterfly" she had... dad laughed, I died a little from embarrassment... in hindsight it was very impressive...
Tell the young lady a gentle kiss to that area from you will make it all better

Every once in a while it rains brass on me. I politely ask them to take a step back in the booth. On my range it's always someone standing as far forward as possible, and extending the gun way out in front. The isosceles stance everybody uses these days makes the gun extend way forward.

I always wear a tight-collared shirt and a ball cap at the range. Two different times, though, I've had a spent casing wind up in the back pocket of my jeans. Still find it hard to believe.

I've been hit by a couple hot cases, the worst was a 30-06 out of the Garand my son was shooting! Many years ago my wife caught a 9mm that bounced off the range divider down the blouse. I was rather proud of her that she kept the gun pointed down range with one hand while trying to get that case out of her bra.

As to other hot things, I've been burned working on motors more than once. While welding I picked up and quickly dropped a couple things I thought had cooled off enough to handle (they hadn't!). The best was setting my hair on fire while welding on a bracket over my head........... That rather quickly got my attention!

Had my rather full beard burned off when a cutting torch exploded. Man o Man did it stink. The skin under the burned off beard luckily was only about a medium sunburn pain level!:D

I was shooting my new Desert Eagle 50 with my then teen aged son at the Ft. Worth Rifle & Pistol club. After 2 mags full I was done. Tom could shoot it all day. Someone pull their truck up close behind us and those big 50 AE casings rained down on his hood. He got upset so I told him to park back where everyone else was parked. He moved his truck. I gave the 50 to Tom and he has it to this day. It seem that common sense is not so common.

I've done that!

One time as a Scout Master, my Senior Patrol leader asked if he could borrow one of my welding glove to pick up his dutch oven. I asked: "left or right?" He chose right. Okay, I proceeded to put the left on and picked up my own dutch oven out of the fire with...My RIGHT! By the time the pain travels from the burning skin to the brain and the brain tells the hand to let go is long enough to leave a permanent scar across your palm! I get kidded about that 30 years later :)
