I was watching an episode of The Wild Wild West from 1966 and saw this unusual gun gripping style being used. Has anyone else ever noticed an actor holding their firearm this way? I've seen it before; it's usually an older, short-barreled revolver being used. It looks really odd to me. Is it just someone being unfamiliar with gun handling and no armorer on set?

Not sure if this is the best subforum to post this in...

The more I look at that guy’s hand, the more deformed it looks. Maybe that’s the only way the poor guy’s hand works.

It almost looks like the gent is holding the revolver with his right hand and the lady is offering her assistance with her left hand. Her left arm under his right arm. His left arm seems to be pointing down, not somewhat forward.

Without being able to see the gun better there might be a spur on the trigger-guard, There is a set of rubber stocks that place your hand in that position too, They are called the ERGO Delta Grip. It is actually a most comfortable grip style, just looks odd to many people. Here is a link to the Ergo web site: https://www.ergogrips.net/shop/delta-grip/

If you can find the episode I'll look for it. I have them all in DVD.

Is that actually a WWW episode? I never recall a DA small revolver being represented in that series…but regardless…it IS “Hollywood” ya’ know…

It was season 2 episode 11, the one with Archie Bunker ( Carroll O'Conner). It's that middle finger jutting out so much that is really distracting. I've seen it before in other older shows; it doesn't look natural or comfortable.

I did back when it was on.

Couple of years ago I bought the first season, and watched maybe 5 episodes.

Thought, "damn, this is a dumb show".
That's what I thought; about five minutes of that show was enough for me. Watching an entire episode would be torture.
