Have a Model 35 with SN# 742. Only 8350 units were manufactured. I am curious to know approximately how many are still known to exist, and the lowest known SN #.

Welcome to the Forum! According to the "SCSW 5th Ed.", your Model of 1953 .22/32 Target revolver should be a fairly early version (1953-1954?) since the s/n's began at 101 and continued to 135465 (1953-1973). S&W named these revolvers the "Model 35" beginning in 1957. Yours should have 4-screws on the frame and a 6" bbl., along with diamond-center walnut stocks. It should also have a flat latch cylinder thumbpiece. It is possible that only 8350 units were manufactured, but I can't verify that number. Hopefully a few Forum members that are much more familiar with these models will chime in and help answer your questions.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! I think it would be helpful if you posted a picture of your Model 1913 .35 Semi-auto Pistol in your original post because, although you are in the correct forum, the content here is dominated by revolvers. It is very difficult to know how many of the original production still exist. I think the best you can hope for is someone's educated guess. It might be more important to gauge how many of your Type 2 version might still exist of the 833 made if you are trying to determine how rare your pistol is. We don't see these pistols often posted here so my feeling is it is pretty scarce but this is not where my interests lie so I'll defer to the more knowledgeable.

Oooops, perhaps I'm confused. The OP posted in the "Revolvers 1896-1961" section, so I assumed he was talking about a Model 35 (and perhaps just mistyped 1953 as 1913). If it is indeed a Model of 1913 .35 Semi-Automatic Pistol then it's obviously in the wrong Forum section and much older than a Model 35 revolver.

I have a S&W Model 1913 SN # 742 in a 35 caliber. Wondering how many are known to exist and lowest known SN #.
