I've used Express VPN for 5 years now and over the last year or so I've had a bunch of annoying issues. Many of the issues have been resolved but at their pace and my EVPN subscription just expired. I am thinking of going with Nord VPN and was wondering how their service is, how their Customer Service Dept. is and if there are any issues I should know about. If you do use Nord VPN, what level service would you recommend?

I have no experience with Nord VPN but a while back forum member wood714 (Kevin) turned me on to ExpressVPN. Their service has been exemplary with nary a hiccup.

My opinion is Express VPN is second to none. Only problem I've had in the years I've been using it was on my old Windows 7 laptop I only use for torrent sites. Their customer service had it up and running in no time.

I have no reason to worry about any agency trying to get my info, but it's nice to know Express is looking out for it's customers.

It is highly unlikely that ExpressVPN's user data, including online activity logs, can be extradited to the US. ExpressVPN is headquartered in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), which has strong privacy laws, including a "dual criminality" clause. This means that data cannot be extradited unless the alleged crime is also illegal in the BVI. Additionally, ExpressVPN does not store activity logs, which means there's nothing to hand over to law enforcement.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • No Logs:
ExpressVPN explicitly states that it does not log user activity or VPN connections. This means they don't keep records of websites visited, data downloaded, or any other online activity that could be used to identify a user.

  • BVI Privacy Laws:
The BVI has some of the best privacy laws in the world, and the government protects data by "dual criminality," according to Cloudwards.net.

  • "Dual Criminality":
This means that any evidence can't be extradited unless it's a crime in both the BVI and the requesting country.

  • No Data to Sell:
Because ExpressVPN doesn't store activity logs, they also don't have any data to sell to third parties.

  • Strong Encryption:
ExpressVPN uses robust encryption (like AES-256) to protect user data, making it difficult for anyone to access or decrypt it, according to ExpressVPN's Trust

Hope the cut and paste stuff came out okay.

I find there are many website that will not allow their site to load when using Express VPN - that's what I had for 5 years until today.

Nord is the worst. I signed up for a year and it worked great for about 6 weeks, 2 weeks after the 30 money back guarantee.

I worked with them a few frustrating weeks to get it so it wouldn't randomly drop or the speed wouldn't drop to a crawl. When I finally asked to cancel and get a prorated refund, I got a copy/paste of the TOS and a basic Screw You.

Thank you for this opportunity to share my personal experience with and opinion of with the worst VPN service on Planet Earth.

Proton VPN has been phenomenal for over a year.

I do an inordinate amount of surfing and have yet to find a site that won't let me in.
After having been a subscriber of EVPN for 5+ years I can honestly say I am blocked from multiple sites per day. When I turn off the EVPN, the sites in question work fine. This happens on my cell, my wife's cell and my iMac. I have spoken to EVPN rep's a few times and they are very well aware of exactly what I am talking about. I wish it weren't so.

After having a bunch of issues over the 5 years with Express VPN - I let it expire. When I first signed up with them 5 years ago their CS was excellent, but now it absolutely sucks! Very slow response time with chats, no phone number to talk with a rep. and it takes way to long when chatting to get anywhere - seems they are chatting to multiple people at a time! I made a decision to try out Nord. They are supposedly the top rated vpn company now. I have 30 days to see if the reviewers are correct. I signed up 2 days ago and so far - so good. it's faster than EVPN, no issues so far but we'll see.

Thanks for the responses. I will let you guys know if I made the right decision in a few months.

Just as an update or follow through I have had Nord VPN for almost a month now and I have not had any issue so far. IMO it does work better than EVPN and has not cut out yet - EVPN tended to do that. It also has some additional free features that Express didn't and is about 40% less costly. It works for me.

No brainer, good for you.
