Model 35 value

So, I saw a very nice model 35 at an LGS today. It’s a good 90+% pistol, locks up tight, bright bore, very nice blueing. No box or papers. I liked everything BUT the price. Guy is asking $1175 for it-I was thinking $750-800. What’s the darn thing worth? Am I off base or is he high? I thought about offering $1k out the door, but then thought I’d better check first. What say you gurus of all things S&W?

I personally think the price is some too high, but the limited production of Mod 35's push's the price up. Lately I have been seeing Mod 17's priced that high and they made a whole lot more of them . When was the last time you saw a Mod 35 for sale? At any price?

For me the key is very nice. I saw a beat up one at a gun show in MT 10 years ago listed at $750. That was the last one I saw in person. He took it home after the show but didn't have it the next time I saw him.

I'd go $1000 on a really nice one. I shoot a 35 better than a 34 4". The extra barrel length makes a difference for me.
