Figured you’d show pics of your Masterpiece?I think I may have a slight addiction… worked some overtime and made some room in the safe and wanted to do something for myself a bit.
It’s a 1970-vintage Combat Masterpiece, 4”, to go with my Model 10 and Model 65. I’m pretty happy with the idea; how did I do?
Also, what should I know about this revolver? It’ll be a sometimes-carry, range-gun.
Interesting, the name Thiokol. That is the company that manufactured the solid rocket motors for the Minuteman series of ICBMs. Coincidentally, I was a Minuteman II Missile Combat Crewmember at Whiteman AFB, 1977-1982....and carried a Model 15, 2" while on alert duty, and a 4" -15 while couriering classified items to the launch control centers. I believe these were the last revolvers issued to the US military. I have had several 15's since then, seeing them as the ne plus ultra of .38 revolvers. My last one I gave to my daughter-in-law and bought a Model 67 - the stainless version of the -15 - for me....
Get stainlessNo pics?
I am wanting a M15 for daily carry on the farm as well, however I don’t want anything nice. I want ugly or beat up. Plans are to polish it up and put some spiffy combats on it.
As you should know, GunBroker links die after a couple of months. At least take a screenshot of the sale page and copy and paste a few of the pics so that future readers will have some idea of what you are talking about.Click the link. It will take you to the GB listing with photos and price![]()
You must be looking at a picture I'm not seeing. Why, finish is destroyed.
One of several. Did you misplace the glassesYou must be looking at a picture I'm not seeing.
Good honest service wear, and a good deal IMHOI would say it is a bit "finish challenged" but saying the finish is "destroyed" seems like a bit of an overstatement IMO. I've certainly seen a lot worse.
Seems to me that it's a shooter grade example, and is priced about right for its condition.
If I were looking for a shooter, and didn't already have one, I'd be a buyer at that price.
JMO.
Truck gun for sure. Looks like Grandpa had that in his '72 Chev P/U, since new. Lots of use.Seems to me that it's a shooter grade example, and is priced about right for its condition.

Not trying to be argumentative, but just curious, how did you come up with $150 in taxes and fees?Truck gun for sure. Looks like Grandpa had that in his '72 Chev P/U, since new. Lots of use.
Price climbs to $550 with all taxes and fees.
Agreed 100%. A good scrub with bronze wool and oil and it will look a LOT better.Yes, and some bronze wool and oil would make a big improvement.
Well do you live in the OPs state. In my state tax is 10 2% more than yoursNot trying to be argumentative, but just curious, how did you come up with $150 in taxes and fees?
My state has one of the highest combined state and local sales tax rates in the country (8.9% - which is on par with CA) and they even charge tax on the shipping. We also have a $18 transfer/FFL fee and most FFLs charge $35 for doing a handgun transfer ($10 more than for a long gun due to the extra state paperwork required for handguns). That brings the cost of a completed transfer to $53.
So $399+$25 shipping = $426 x 1.089 = $463.91 + $53 transfer = $516.91
To hit your $550 number the sales tax rate would have to be 16.7% - either that or you'd have to be paying around $90 for the transfer.
Does anyone have tax rates or transfer fees that high?
Holy CATS! 10.2% is outrageous!Well do you live in the OPs state. In my state tax is 10 2% more than yours
I made a guesstimate, $516.91 or $550 IMO is high. $33 is not the point.
