Good gun belt for carry

I got a Hank's "Gunner" model 1 1/2" belt last week. Guaranteed for life and holds my P07 IWB very securely. 22% off sale currently so that model is about $60 to your door. Joe

Great belts! I have two of Hanks.

My other favorite that I really like are Bullhide belts, I have two of those two. One has 3/4” hole spacing that I forgot to order on the second one. I strongly recommend the smaller spaced adjustment holes! 1” is standard hole spacing. After having internal surgery in the belt line region I really really did not want an overly tight belt.

If I was in the market, I’d ask if Hank’s could do the 3/4” hole spacing.

I got a nylon ratchet belt a year back. That’s now my standard jeans belt — with or without a handgun. The 1/8” adjustments simply aren’t possible with leather, but easy in a ratchet buckle. Mine have been 1.75” belts which fill a jeans belt loop.

After my first ratchet belt, I bought two more colors for me and one for my Dad - who’s a hearty-and-hale 80 yoa. The buckle on a ratchet belt seems less complicated for fine motor skills than the leather belt buckles. I know I am getting older by the day…

(When I was in the Army, I was told the basic nylon single friction buckle belt was standard to make removing a belt for medical reasons/CASEVAC easier. Likely that was barracks bullocks, but may have a grain of truth. In EMS, sometimes a leather belt would be sliced with shears, but steel lined belts might preclude that)

On leather gun belts, my Goldilocks has always been the 1.5” Don Hume. It isn’t the thickest nor the stoutest, but had a profile that didn’t make you look like a guntoter on the way to the OK Corral. It had the right hand - supple enough to get you through the day without hot spots, but sturdy enough to carry a 35oz gun.
I have Safariland action gamer pistol belt that I added a ratchet closure to. It’s pretty dang convenient.

I was recently looking to get a ratchet style belt for regular pants belt. Like I said, post surgery I am sensitive to overly tight belts and 1” hole spacing can go from too tight to not all that secure on the waist in just one hole.

For leather belts, I like the ones from Rob Leahy over at Simply Rugged. They work well with my various jeans. If you buy from him, make sure that you follow the measurement/size instructions on the web site.
My belt actually turned up. I left it at the gym when I was there on Thursday. I thought I might have done that so I called yesterday but the lazy kid behind the desk must not have even looked. I was there today and asked in person and it was right on top.

And it is a Simply Rugged made by Rob Leahy. I’m glad I didn’t lose it!

Thanks for the suggestions.

Nexbelt ratchet belt - or Kore, though I don't have one. Make sure you get the EDC style belt; it has extra fasteners for the buckle that screw into the nylon. Other non-EDC belts just retain the buckle with a toothed clamp.

Being able to instantly readjust the fit of the belt to suit your comfort makes this style of belt well worth the 50-60 dollar price. Concealed carry is uncomfortable enough that anything making it less unpleasant is well worthwhile.

This is what I have been using for quite a few years in one version or another.

I have 1 Kore Essentials and 3 Nexbelts. They are great. I use 1.5, but they make 1.75. I can carry everything from a XD-S 3.3 inch in a iwb holster to a full size Colt Government model in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II all day. They work great with owb too. No sagging. I love the almost infinite adjustments, I have 1 in leather and the others are nylon.

Been using this every day for five years now belt STILL looks 95% same as new. Both my sons have them as well as their everyday use belts and they look brand new after same five years.
Little pricey BUT what's the difference if you buy a $30 belt 2-3x or a $60 belt once every 6-8 years.
I have a storage tote full of IWB holsters none of which I can honestly say I like as much as the above belt I attach them to.

Works great even when I carry IWB my 4" Walther 15+1 PDP/C or OWB my 5" 13+1 Springfield XD 45acp. Don't even notice when I carry my 3" Shield Plus, 4" Shield Plus or 3.9" P320 18+1 Carry in their OWB holsters.

I've been wearing couple Carhartt leather work belts for few years , they look a little rough but haven't broke or split. They hold a polymer pistol and snub ok but not a heavy revolver or 1911.
I did the same for years. S&W 638 in a Don Hume 1st agent. Then one day I stumbled across Cross Breed Seconds and thought why not. YUP, real gun belts make a difference even with light guns. Okay I'm a slow learner.
Check out CB 2nds but pay attention to sizing instructions. There is a reason why they are seconds mostly because the 1st buyer didn't pay attention. The instructions are there for a reason other than to take up space. No Really ;)

just got my Kore Essentials. I have been eyeing these for a long time. Really good belt

Yep .. especially now that I am a geezer, the ratchet belt is the only way to go for me.

I have misplaced my regular belt that I use and for the life of me, I can’t find it. I bought it a few years it’s black leather, 1.75” wide (I believe), nice and solid, and was just fabulous. I’m hoping it turns up. If it doesn’t, I gotta get another one. Can somebody recommend a quality belt to order with a 1.75” width? It needs to work with the belt loops in blue jeans. My old one did.
I have been a happy user of my Hanks belt for 15 durable years. Worth a look. https://www.hanksbelts.com/

Glad you found it. (I have heard of these things called‘gyms’ but never tried one!) I found that my 1 1/2” JCPenney’s belts, Timberlands, work fine for K Frames and smaller guns work fine for what I need. Not a lot of grizzlies around PGH, just some two-legged animals that run away when they see you’re armed!
