I have been reading about J frame grips,, and decided to change the grips on my 940, 9m to a pair of old stag grips my father purchased long ago..
The stag grips fit the back strap well, with except of a small "bump" at the top of the right side.
The problem is the front strap and heal. There is a 1/16th or more over hang from the inside top near the trigger guard down around to the rear of the heal.
These grips are old,, I am guessing mid 1940t's. My dad was a New York City Insurance claims adjuster type for a while after WW II. I still have one of his NYC CCW permits.
On the inside of the grip is what appears to be the "price",, 5.95....
!)Anyone want to offer some advise or speculation as to the age of the stag grips, could these be "long" I frame????
2)I also have a set of near NIB J frame grips I would like to date. No serial inside.
3)I purchased a set of grips from John Ledgerwood in 1984 at the same gun show as I purchased my 940-1 9mm. Any info?? I google fu'd and found nothing..
Thanks
Jim
