I finally got a chance to shoot it. After making the original post, it developed a couple of bugs during dry fire breakin. I had to fit a new hand and tweek a few things. I'm still learning. Anyway, below is a quick pic of it wearing some old pre-war service grips (that someone 'grained') and a VERY early Melvin Tyler's T grip. That is how I shot it. Recoil was very manageable. I would put it about the same as a J frame .38. No sting at all even with the service grips.
Target was 10 yards, 6 rounds of 1953 milsurp ball plus one round (the X) of .45 Auto Rim LRN just to make sure it would function with both. It will take a little practice to get a feel for the trigger and short sight radius. I'm very happy with it. (holster is a Triple K)

I'll bet that range session was a blast getting to shoot your own creation. Great looking piece.
