This early post war 357 ran on Gunbroker last Saturday, but not for very long. I thought about bidding on it myself but with the non-factory refinish I decided to pass. Originally it started as a regular auction but then got changed to buy it now. I was hoping to see the auction go the full week. These guns rarely come up for sale and I wanted to see how high it would go.

I was really surprised at what it brought, especially in the finish condition it had. It amazes me how much the Pre-27's continue to appreciate.

H Richard,

that is a Transition MAGNUM, not a Pre-27...even though it was refinished that was a super steal....there aren't many of those...

I'm with Kris. That's one I'd have restored considering it's already been refinished. But like somebody posted in one of my threads, it's easy to spend someone elses money! ;)

So easy Rick, all I have to do is type :D

I have to give credit as this find was a joint effort with fellow SWCA member Nate Mayor. Who I Value as my 3rd edition catalog. He has one of the finest 357 Magnum collections I have seen.

What features define a "Transition Magnum"? Thanks.

The transitional 357 was basically a pre-war gun but with the following updates – post war grips, sights and hammer safety. They all have serial numbers beginning with "S"
