Default My 29-2 won't go Boom Boom :(

So I went out shooting today with my dad and brother. Man did we have a good time! I did have an issue though with my 8 3/8" 29-2. The hand doesnt turn the cylinder every time the hammer is cocked in DA or SA. I thought maybe the tip of the hand was chipped, but both the hand and the extractor looked to be in fine shape. Any ideas guys??

There is a spring in the trigger that keeps pressure on the hand. If you take off the side plate and pull the hand backward, it should have some resistance and snap forward. that is the only thing i can think of right now.

Torsion spring broke , or someone took the hand out and didn't put it back correctly.

Anyone take the sideplate off lately?

Some of the older Smith & wessons had a problem, under recoil the cylinder stop would disengage and the cylinder would partially rotate. If the revolver functions normally without firing, this could be your problem. I'm not certain what Smith & Wesson has done to correct the problem in the older revolvers but the more recent revolvers were equipped with the endurance package and seemed to address the issue. If this turns out to be your problem, perhaps someone with first hand experience could guide you. In any event, I hope that one of the suggestions yields the answer for you.

Good luck, Steve

As far as I know I was the first st have the side plate off. The hand looked fine, but I did not check to see if the spring was broken or functioning properly.

I'll give that a shot and give you guys a progress report.
