Surprised to not see more of these. One of the nicest 19's I have seen. Rich deep blue, TT, TH and cut front of trigger guard.

I already had one of the guns and knife I used as a shooter.

Nice pick up! I found one of those a little over a year ago. Beautiful revolvers!

More than One...

That qualify's you as a collector of Texas Ranger Commemorative 19-3's, which I have to say is one of my favorite variations of one of my favorite models...

Just a confession, I think that I've accumulated four sets and any time one comes for sale, I find myself hard pressed not to purchase it.

Here's one of my plain Jane versions (TR 39), that came to me with all of the packing boxes, tools and paperwork:

I have one of the sets also. It came to me as an unfired revolver but with a dragline and the left stock was scratched up from ejected cartridges.

Don't worry-- I was able to fix it easily and quickly.
(I mean to say... it is no longer unfired! :) )

According to the SCSW, some extra frames were built that did not get the Texas Rangers treatment... resulting in some number of 19-3's out there that will appear to be just another average Model 19 -until- you spot the shaved/half trigger guard.

I haven't spotted one yet & can't say that I would chase it if I did, but I always simply have to look.

Yeah, I'm not in to commemorative guns or even engraved guns, but this one was offered to me at a price less than any average 4-inch Model 19. Just so happens this one has a few features beyond the average Model 19.

With mine, the neat wood box and knife are stacked in a closet with other empty gun boxes. The revolver resides in my safe and goes on range days.

Possibly to gain quick uninterrupted access to the trigger after drawing.

Seems contradictory -- having a cut out trigger guard for fast draw work, but then having a target trigger. I have a target trigger and target hammer on one of a 6" 19-3, but that was built for single action target shooting -- using the pad of the finger for a short light pull. For double action, give me a standard trigger every time where I can put the trigger in the crease of the first joint (more leverage for the longer and heavier pull).

My oh my... I remember when these came out! Saw a few and thought hard about buying one but didn't have the money or the wherewithal to just get one.... Now, the prices are up and they are harder to find. Still, I want one and will look hard to get one in good shape. Don't really want the knife.... Does that seem weird? Wouldn't mind one of the engraved ones!! They really are beautiful revolvers.

The standard trigger for a M19 was the .265" serrated one. IIRC, the Texas Ranger M19 introduced the .312" smooth trigger, which is what the OP's revolver appears to be wearing.
