Model 35 prices?

Found a later production 6", blued M-35. Towards the end of the run I 'd say a 1970-1971 gun, in 2 piece box. 95% shape or a bit better.

I can't find any comparable examples on the sale sites. Anyone tracking these that can help with a fair value.

I bought one like that at a gun show in 2015. Mine is similar condition, 6" barrel but no box. I gave a little less than $600 for it and was pretty pleased with the deal. I am guessing that yours with original box might be worth $700 - ish today.

If it really is 95+% with the box I'd say you would be lucky to find it for $700 these days.
I'm not saying it can't happen but you don't see them often and in that condition I'd expect more $$$.

You may be right - the one I got is the ONLY one I have ever seen for sale before or since. And I would not take $1K for it.

Not sure what one would be valued at - maybe someone has access to a recent S&W value guide?

They're generally running closer to 1k to $1200 for a nice one w/box.
$600 is quite a deal if it's not a beater.

I just went over to GI to see if any were listed. WOW there are several from a pre - model I frame with wrong grips and some serious damage and then some NIB examples and some in between. Low price is around $1295 and high nearly $2K

I sold a 35-1 for $675.00 shipped a few months ago on this forum. The revolver was in nice condition, about 90%.

And then there's one like this. A pre 35 cerakoted in 2 colors. Found in a local pawn shop and bought for a lot less $.

These guns are 'hammer' prices at auction.

Every one was in the correct box. Some had tools, some didn't.

All of these were 97% or better.

You won't find a more current sampling of 'sold' guns than this list.

Would love to find something like bamabiker posted!
I have a thing for J frame .22’s and it has been years ( perhaps decades even ) since I saw a 35 for sale in person.
I want them to shoot, so a bit of wear is fine.
Unlike model 17’s which are very easy to find, 35’s are rare, I would say I see one 35 for every 20-25 model 17’s I see

Model 35

I built my own.
Bought a NOS Model 35 barrel & target j-frame trigger from a member here, sent the parts and a Model 34 that was in great shape back to the Mothership and they put the barrel on it, and trigger in it, so it is not a real 35 of course but looks like one and shoots like one!

Agree BD Green. Thanks for doing this research. You have saved the OP a lot of time. If you throw the out the high and low and then average the rest you have a very good price point. If you do a calculation for the standard deviation (excel or even Google will give you that number) you have a very good idea of the range you should expect to pay for it. That's assuming the condition is the same as what BD Green described. Remember that condition if almost everything when looking at prices.

Ha. Research. Yes, I did. I went right to my spreadsheet of 'sold' items for that data.
You see, I owned every one of them and made an executive decision to sell the ten of them at auction.
So, I am personally aware of their condition. Selling my guns in that manner was definitely an eye-opener.
It's all about the timing. Prices reflect that.
Some of the guns with some less-than-perfect condition actually drew more bucks than stellar condition gun. A true head scratcher.

Timing. Yep. Who's on, who's buying, who's crying.

Life at the auction. You never know.

And, mbliss57, thanx for steering the intent of this thread back down the straight and narrow.

I sold three myself that were no dash guns. They averaged around 1300.00

It did help my average that they were sold by a very well known and trusted dealer. That is also something to keep in mind when using GB data to value a firearm.

Model 35

I purchased thru auction late lAst yr, one of the Model 35 listed by Mr. Green. Mine is a 35ND. It went a little higher than I hoped but still in my comfort zone and in line w the current FBB book value at 98% which I believe my gun falls within + box & tools. I had done my own research using the GB completed auction tool. It led me to see the 35s appear to hold a higher value. Mr. Green communicated w me after the sale when I requested ship date data and shared about his collection of 35s. I am very pleased w mine and feel I paid a fair value for this particular model. IMO, you will probably have to be in the range of the ones he listed in earlier post to find a nice one or be lucky.
