Thinking of putting a scope on my M 29-3 6'' and do not want to drill and tap looking at the Aimtech mounts and wanted to know if anyone has used them and what other opitions I may have

I just got one for about $35.00 on ebay for my model 65. It is a solid mount that does not work loose and allows you to see your iron sights. The down side is the optic sits very high and this creates problems. It would be a truly great mount if they would offer it without the ability to see the iron sights and the optic would sit lower. Weaver makes a mount that will clamp in place at the front and bolt in place using your rear sight mount and there are other mounts that will use your existing holes but I think your gun is too old for those. Below is a link to a thread with pictures of the Weaver mount;

The Weaver mount is for K frames but if you check they might make one for N frames.

I've heard bad reports about various no-gunsmith mounts, but the only one I have experience with is the aimtech and it isn't good . I had it on a 629-4 and it consistently shot loose at the side plate screws even with loc-tight , and that was with mostly mid range loads . Aimtech sent new screws,but it still happened . The gun was marked by the moving of the mount , but with stainless you can polish it to cover up the marks . Maybe I had a bad mount I don't know but thats what happened to me .
