My all-time favorite .38 Special revolver is the Model 64.
Slick, smooth and durable, they just seem right.
Finally found one of the elusive 3 inch model to fill a gap.
This one's about as new as a used revolver can be. Less than one box ever fired:

Getting to know the rest of its bretheren:

Now, to find that elusive tapered barrel no-dash...

Nice gun!
Considering the ammo thats available today, up to near Magnum Buffalo Bore 158 gr Keith, and others, the 3 inch M64 might just be the most versatile revolver that S&W makes, if they still made them! I would even put up with the lock if i had to. With an Ahrends boot grip, and a Lobo Gunleather pancake holster, I would feel well armed.

Sweet! The Model 64 is also one of my all-time favorite S&W's.

Pistolsmith, Teddy Jacobson, worked his magic on the above M64 and
it's not only as smooth as silk, but a stone cold tack driver ta boot!

The M64-2 below is giving my 2.5" M66-2 a serious run for it's money as my primary carry gun,
which is no small feat since "others" have tried, and failed, to bump the M66 from the top spot.

If I ever come across a 3", I'll probably add one of those to the mix. One can only hope.

My first model 64 was a DAO 64-3 I picked up from J&G.

Better trigger than my Performance Center guns. Tack driver too. Best gun money I ever spent.

I've since added a 3 inch 64-3 and a 3 inch 64-3 NY-1. Great revolvers! Regards 18DAI

Congrats!

I too have a fondness for my 3" 64 so much so I shoot Pin matches with it and do very well. Have fun at the range.

Model 64s rate near the top of the favorite list for me also. The most accurate one I have is a J&G DAO with the best trigger I have also. I have 357s but I shoot more 38s by far.

I have a M-64, too. I need several more. When I find the right ones, I'll yank out the wallet.

PS; I like M-67s, too.

I need to find one of those two inch bad boys. I had to pass on one at a show after having paid for car repairs. Only now do I see how much better shape I would be in if I walked everywhere.

Congrat on the 3" Mod 64. Your family does need the tapered barrel no dash though. I've been lucky over the past few years to pick up a 64-3 3" and a 64 no dash 4" with the tapered barrel. Both are great shooters. Looks like I'll have to look for the HB and the 2" now. Too many guns and not enough time.

I've preferred S&W revolvers for a while now but only just recently had the pleasure of purchasing a few 64-5's (4" bull bbl, pre-MIM) during the recent Sportsmans Outdoors sale @ $250 ea. Although they were most definitely 'users' and one needed a timing job, these particular ones had the finest double-action trigger of any revolver I've ever handled.

A very nice introduction to K-frames, I feel pretty fortunate. :)

The irony is I can't find a HB 64 that hasn't been beat to death abused and hung up wet.
