Hello,

New forum member...
Looking for some advice on the differences(both modern models) between the Model 29 4" barrel .44mag and the 629 4" .44 mag. Are benefits in one over the other in the Trigger or Ergonomics ?

lf they were both Classic models w/full under lug barrels l would opt for the blued 29. 629s aint as ''stainless'' as they used to be. A magnet sticks to each pretty well. Whereas the magnet wont stick well to my old pin barreled 64. Where l work we are constructing a plant to process nuclear waste. A large part of the structural steel and piping are stainless...A magnet wont stick to any of that steel..

29s are rarer. Take the 29

I considered both for a while, but knowing that I'm hard on surfaces and my house likes to rust stuff no matter what I do, I chose stainless. Personally I think the blue is a more handsome gun, but unless I left one in a safe at somebody else's house and never touched it it wouldn't stay that way very long.

Toughnut, I refrain from shooting my new blued guns because they are so beautuful. Some I don't shoot at all. I shoot my stainless guns without concern.

Most stainless steels are alloys, and many are designed spacifically for their application. I have on my desk a stainless steel blade from a GE J-47 jet engine. It is 55 years old and is very magnetic, because it has carbon steel as part of the alloy. Pure stainless, if there is such a thing, wouldn't have survived the temperatures. GE is/was a leader in alloy developement
