I am looking for .250 and .227 high front sight blades, DX style , to fit a Weigand interchangeable front sight. Most of what I have come up with has been with a fiber optic in it. I do not want a fiber optic blade. Also I want Patridge style blades.

Thanks .. K

Not too long ago, I saw a set listed on the S&W web site. You might look there first.

NIGHTOWL,
THANKS for the info. Last Summer I stumbled upon a 629 DX package. Complete except for 3 missing sight blades. Included paperwork had the individual blade part #'s and I placed an order with the Factory. For some reason I never got it. Called CS 3 times and was told it will ship. Been almost a year. Lost cause.

Researched the sight kit and it includes the 3 blades I'm missing. Just placed the order. Hope I get this one. Thanks for the tip. DIVER, thanks for the thread. Today is a good day.
Regards

I have never been very shy about giving advice, so hear goes. Here is a link to the hand vice that I use to trim sight blade:

Super Hand Vise

I hold it between my knees and work slowly. I put good quality PVC tape on the jaw faces and across the top of the jaws and file down until the file just kisses the tape. this keeps the file cut square. This is the tape I use:

BEDDING/MASKING TAPE | Brownells

It is not cheap, just the best I have found in my years of smithing. I keep several sizes on hand.

After gettiny very close using the tape I have feeler guage stock that I trim to fit and use two sided tape to attach to the top of the vise and using an india stone I final fit down til I kiss the feeler stock evenly on both sides.
If I want to serate the front edge I rotate the sight blade and leave just enough proud or the jaws so that when the checkering file (held at 90deg to the blade) touches the guage stock the file has cut full depth leaving a sharp edged surface and gives a great sight picture.

REMEMBER, WORK SLOWLY!!!!

How about Dawson Precision? Seems like I remember seeing some non FO sights there.

Or kdiver58 can use the surface grinder he has in his shop! Or maybe the milling machine. If he had a wire EDM then I'd have him making me sight blades out the wazoo.
