The "27" series of .357 8 shots are, of course, N frame guns.

But for at least the last two year running S&W has listed an 8 shot 627 under their "Pro" series of guns as being built on a medium or "L" frame.

What gives? Is there really an 8 shot built on the L frame? If so, do they just drill an extra hole in the same one that they use for the 6 and 7 shot models? Or is it and "oversized" cylinder in an L frame somehow?

Or is it that S&W is just too busy selling guns that they can't be bothered with a little thing like proof reading their catalogs?

Or, perhaps, many have pointed it out to them over the last few years and they pay the same ammount of attention to them as they do to those complaining about the IL issue.

Lynnie is right. they need to proof read. No way could eight rounds of .38/.357 fit in an L frame cylinder.
I even called SW once to ask if they could gin up an 8-shot cylinder to fit a 686 (L frame) and they said no way. Has to be an N frame, but the 8 tubes do have to be drilled farther from the center (compared to a six shot N frame cylinder) so the tubes won't line up to the hammer/firing pin on a 27 or 28 designed for a six shot cylinder.
