What do you think about the plug I made to fill the lock hole?

I put it in a nickle gun so you can see it better.

Hi All:

While reading this post it brought back a memory of another classic firearm that has a foolish safety. Several years ago I bought a Marlin 30-30 rifle but hated that silly safety. After doing some research I found a person in Wisconsin selling a replacement that makes the hole in the frame look like a screw. Well I installed one and it is great, would never own another Marlin rifle with that push button safety. Here is the link:

Replacement Kit for the  Marlin Cross

The same idea could be applied to the Smith & Wesson safety. Instead of hiding the hole make a plug that looks like a screw, it could work if the plug fit just right.

Just some thoughts.

Do you think if I made a few they would sale?

I bet they would. Let me have some to T&E though, just kiddin.
I'm in the process of liquidating my lawyer lock models but I think the plug would sell especially on the hammerless models. If you can come up with something to fill the flag cut on the hammer models, I'd try it on my 500. Heck while you're at it, do something to use in place of the comp on the 4" 500.

Do you have a CNC turning center. If not E-Mail me I can help you out.;)

ya huh

it may not be a huge $ maker but you'd sell a "few" for sure. I'd be in for one for the 642.

Are there instrucitons somewhere on how to remove the lock? My wife has a new 642 that I would like to remove the lock on.

Couldn't the hole be tapped, and a threaded plug screwed in (with a little blue locktite). Since I don't own a IL S&W, I've never seen the inside of one.
