Tuning Jigs

Anyone else Homebrew their own jigs ? Got pictures of yours?

Built this small tuning jig with a true 90 degree angle out of some scrap wood and granite. Lots of operations require parts to be held perpendicular or square. This is just the ticket..

Here it is setting the trigger angle with a six inch stone.

Glad you posted that. I've got a 617 that was purchased used with a SA trigger that had been "tuned" for a lighter break. With a 14 lbs. rebound spring it breaks at 2 lbs. 4 ounces, lighter than I am comfortable with. Now with your pictures as guidance I now now how to stone that sear so that it's perfectly square, however I'll do it in the measurement lab at work.

Some folks flatten the angle at the trigger beak to lighten the single action pull. If you use a six inch stone and make about. Half inch pass once or twice, you might increase the engagement enough to satisfy your needs.

Just a word of caution...check for push off before you start removing metal. If it is present...your priority is to correct that condition. Also, go slowly..and test fitment. You can't put metal back.
