Does anyone recall the thread pitch and size of the front screw that goes into the top strap to hold the sight in place. For the life of me I cannot find my tap, nor can I find the thread pitch in my notes.

Regards

Thankyou Sir on the 2-56 tap size for the topstrap. I have the 3-56 tap for the side plates, but that
2-56 tap is suppose to be with the 3-56 in my tool box. I have looked for that tap all day.
Well, I'll be calling Brownells in the morning to order one, and other items. Again Thankyou for helping me.

Regards

Double checked this morning....all my old rear sight tang screws (top strap) are 3X56, and my sideplate screws are 5X44. The new plunger style yoke/sideplate screws are 8X36.

Thanks it appears then a top straps could be 2-56 or 3-56 ?? and the side plates are 5-44 then ?

I'm not sure about the new screw for the sight tang/top strap used for the newer design front sight with the rounded tang....all mine are the older screws with the flat head. The older screws I have are all 3X56. (same screw that fits the revolver trigger stop assy)

I believe you are right. I also am in ref to the older style rearsights.
So we have 3-56 for the topstrap and the 5-44 for the sideplate screws. I've only ever had the 2 taps the one I'm missing now has to be that, 3-56 tap. Off to ebay for a couple of 3-56 taps.

Regards
