Hi,

I have a problem with no clicks on the horizontal adjustment on my 52-2.

I just bought the 52-2 and have no prior experience with the 52-2.

But I assume that the lack of clicks is a defect.

I would really appreciate some advice on how to fix the lack of clicks.

I'm hoping that there might be some spring or other part that can be replaced. It might even be that the there is some part missing. I got the gun through a dealer, so I don't have any information on previous work done to the pistol. Someone might have removed the rear sight and lost a part, or made a mistake putting the sight back on the pistol..

Best
Chris

Before trying to replace or repair, I would try applying some penetrating oil, or solvent to the screw head and then turning the windage screw left and right a few times. It might be old lube in there that is inhibiting the plunger or spring. The plunger that gives the feedback or "clicks" is located behind the windage screwhead.

Edit - Too slow!

You can find the diagram here: Smith & Wesson Model 52-2 Parts | Numrich Gun Parts

There's a tiny plunger and spring under the windage screw and it's probably just gummed up. Before you go tearing it apart, liberally spray behind the screw with an aerosol cleaner like Gun Scrubber and work the screw back and forth. I'm pretty sure the screw is staked in the nut and you'll need to replace them if you take it apart.
