Customer brought in a nice 39-2 that has damaged threads where the frame stud (grip screw bushing to 1911 people) screws in. Any clue as to the thread size and tpi? Any one have access to a tap to clean up the threads? How about a new bushing? Numrich is out of stock.

Assuming no ones off the top of their head...
Can you take the good bushing out and take to your local ACE? They usually have a "thread board" with various screws and nuts for verifying your thread.

Glad to know that Jack First has the parts. I’ll start a list to spread the shipping and order costs over.

I think I looked up parts at Jack awhile back. His prices were outrageous in my opinion, especially when compared to the same items at Midway or Numrich. But I guess if he is the only one that has it....

Follow up, as best as I could measure the thread is 12-36. Awfully hard to get the thread gauge on the four threads that were visible. Found a tap for sale on eBay. I’ll report back if it works.

the grip screw pitch should be 5x44. At least my 439 is. I honestly don't recall if the aluminum frame has steel inserts, or is just threaded.

I do not recall seeing any steel inserts in my Model 439's receiver, just a threaded hole for the grip screw stud.

I have not worked on many 39’s so can’t say when they got away from the bushings but this one definitely has them. Don’t ask me why Bubba took them out.
