    Joe Pete Holster

The revolver came from an estate and was on consignment, so there is little information about it. I agree it probably came from a small maker. It has an open toe. The estate includes a few SAAs. That might support a SASS tie in...

Photos as promised. I would still like more info on the holster maker. Thanks in advance.

    Joe Pete Holster

It's a no dash and dates to '75. I am happy with Magna's for now, although I'd like to have a better set. I'll post some more photos tonight.

    Joe Pete Holster

I don't think the holster is stamped other than the markers mark, but I will check later. The real negative to the holster is that it is for a left handed carrier, which I am not , so, it might become available at some point. For now, it looks good in photos. ☺️ The 66 is nice. It's not the...

    Joe Pete Holster

I picked up a snub-nosed model 66 last week and it came with a pretty nice holster. It is stamped with what I think says, "Maker Joe Pete". Does anyone know anything about this maker. I haven't been able to find any info about him. This is the only photo I currently have of the holster. I can...

    Year in review

TeamPB, I added the same Colt Commander back in September, but I only listed my S&W additions here. They're great guns.

    Year in review

Bob, The "scratched up" Chief's Special isn't completely off my radar, but like I said, my gun fund is has been spent. If it sits a bit, I might circle back around on it. I also have a couple more J's on my radar, but the seller is high on them, so I letting them sit for now. (One is a nickel...

    Year in review

As the year winds down and my gun fund is spent, I find myself reflecting on a pretty good year. The below photos demonstrate my net S&W haul for the year. By some standards, it may be a modest haul, but for me it was a very exciting year. Unfortunately, not all of these belong in this...

Pawn shop factory nickel(?) Heavy Duty

Is it this one by chance? I came across it on a classified listing but I assumed it was a scam and it is not nearby. A serial number is somewhat readable on the back of the cylinder in the last photo.

    66 snubby with target trigger

I found these M stamps under the stocks. I doubt the factory would have installed a case hardened target trigger in it, but I have heard these stamps are sometime used to indicate the revolver has been modified. Am I reading too much into it?

    Engraved Jovino 36

Duly noted, Colt. That is a beautiful 649. I apologize for the poor photo. I have tried to improve it, but didn't have much luck. From the letter that is with the model 36 in question, I know it was shipped to John Jovino, but the letter doesn't say anything about it being factoring engraved...

    Engraved Jovino 36

Great info, Bob. How did I know you would chime in on this one? This one has lost it's box, etc along with the original stocks. I know that detracts for some collectors, but it's still a great example. Below is a photo of another chief special with the same engraving pattern. The example in...

    66 snubby with target trigger

I came across a 66nd snubby, did my usual inspection on it and bought it. Now I've realized the trigger has probably been swapped because it is a case harden target trigger. My question is, is this a big deal if I want to get it swapped back to its original format? I really don't mind having a...

    Engraved Jovino 36

This Chiefs Special showed up in a local shop. The factory letter shows it was shipped to John Jovino, but doesn't say it was factory engraved. I hate "what's it worth" threads, but comparables are few, so what do you think?

    SB Combats-update

Thanks for the input. The seller came back to me saying his brother thinks they are Ks and he wanted to verify before he ships them. I told him I thought they were too and how he could check based on the feed back here. :) Through that process he determined they are Ks.

    SB Combats-update

Thanks, but I don't have them in hand. If I can get them I'll be able to use them either way, but I kinda hope they're K frame stocks.

    SB Combats-update

I'm talking to a guy about getting these square butt combats. He says they fit an N frame, but based on the spacing on either side of the washers, I think they are for a K/L frame. What say you?

    New to me 617

The Standard Catalog of S&W 4th edition was published in 2016 and only lists serial number through 2015. Their lists ends with CZX. I suspect your gun shipped in 2016 or 2017. I found my 617-1 in Raleigh a couple years ago and I love it. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours.
