As the year winds down and my gun fund is spent, I find myself reflecting on a pretty good year.

The below photos demonstrate my net S&W haul for the year. By some standards, it may be a modest haul, but for me it was a very exciting year.

Unfortunately, not all of these belong in this section, but most do.

From top to bottom: 681nd, 586nd, 686nd, 66nd, 60-9, 469 and my birth year model 41.

Anyone else do well this year?

You have done quite well my friend! Congratulations!
Do that again in 2023.
I am now motivated to show my 2022 acquisitions. One is in the mail right now, so it will have to wait. Thinking about it, it has been a good year on this end too.

Nice haul for the year. I don't see a scratched up blue Chiefs Special on your list or in your photos. Did you decide to let that one get away?

I'm happy with the year. I rustled up a six pack of Chiefs: one nickel (a '56), two blue (a '58 & a '65), and three stainless (a '65, a '69, & an '89 -- an elusive "NY-1").

In a few hours I'll try to cut a blue '56 out of an auctioneer's herd. We'll see.

Bob, The "scratched up" Chief's Special isn't completely off my radar, but like I said, my gun fund is has been spent. If it sits a bit, I might circle back around on it.

I also have a couple more J's on my radar, but the seller is high on them, so I letting them sit for now. (One is a nickel pre model chief (maybe 80%) and the other is a nickel model 49.)

Congratulations OP!

2022 brought seven varied pieces into our home. Honey's Beretta Silver Pigeon Sporter started the year off, closely followed by her CMP 1944 Colt 1911, then the Wyoming Collectors show resulted in a M-36 and 19-4, a threatened county ordinance inspired me to help my family run LGS with a Tippman Bug-out (highly recommended), older brother wanted $ for a new CZ so the 1966 M-10 came home and a visit to the JMB Firearms Museum in Ogden resulted in a new Colt Combat Commander. I have no complaints.

TeamPB, I added the same Colt Commander back in September, but I only listed my S&W additions here.

They're great guns.

I had a great 2023,cmp Remington rand ,Winchester m1 carbine ,Smith and wesson victory from 1942 delivered to Oakland ca and a Remington 03a3.Hopeing 2023 will be good as 2022

I scored a couple of nice Model 19s, but they were my only Smiths. I used up most of my discretionary funds this year buying up mags in advance of the ban here in WA state. Next session they will most likely pass a semi-auto ban as well, so 2023 might be another expensive year for me.

Ooops!

I didn't notice the Forum category we were in here, sorry about the non-Smiths and the older than the Model 19 Smiths I listed. That being said, the 1981-ish nickel 19 is at the top, first or second, favorite Smith to shoot.

And the 2022 Commander was a shot in the dark internet purchase, no one had them locally, so sight unseen and it has turned out to be the family's favorite 1911.

Well, by gift I acquired these:

And I bought this last last week:

I can't recall the last time I actually bought a S&W handgun........but it would have a few years ago, from someone connected to this Forum. Probably my CS9.

Nice pre-S&W PPK/S. I have a PPK just like it that I bought a year ago. Fun to look at and play with, not so fun to shoot.

I am actually down one S&W for the year... traded off my 8 3/8 629-1 for an early Canadian Para-ordnance P16-40 set up for competition.. super slick and I hadn't used the 629-1 in years so off it went.. we were both happy with the trade... and I kept the target grips.. Goodyears went with..

Hmm... don't know anyone who would call this a modest haul? You did quite well! Most likely more Smiths than I bought in the last 20 years!

The only Smith I bought this year was a used Victory pistol. A few others I never thought I'd never end up with - a 1990s Remington XP-100 223 and not too long ago a 1969 Walther PPK/S 32 auto.
