I couldn't help myself. All this praise of the 617 has me interested, and jealous. I stopped by a local pawn shop last week and guess what? They had a 617-2 10 shot 6" in the case. It was in poor shape, some rust on the hammer, trigger, and the frame. The alum. cylinder was beat up.I got it...

Sounds like a poor "trigger job". It may take new parts to restore it to stock..

My advice to expecting first timers, "Sleep late as much as you can." This is a revolver section, so a model 17 or 617. I think a model 41 would be great.

ok It apears that the frame is solid. It did not look like pins through the frame. must be good pins.

What is the reason for the 3 spots on the left side of the NG frames, near the cylinder? I tried search with no luck. 3 silver dots on an all black frame. I am thinking it has to do with how they finish those revolvers? Please forgive a newbe if this is common knowledge. thanks
