Assuming current production models....the grips are the only difference. The standard 686+ ships with rubber Hogues, the deluxe with the finger groove wood grips which I believe are made by Altamont.

I wouldn't trade my 686 for a 66-anything. But I do plan on supplementing it with a 66-8 in the very near future.

That looks fantastic! I'm not a reloader but I'm assuming those are pretty stiff loads given the still shot of the muzzle flip. Very impressive.

For me it all depends on what revolver they're destined for and what you plan on doing with it. I like wood and rubber for different purposes.

Buy it! That's a pretty good price in my area.

I'd go with either a 2.75" 66-8 or 3 inch SP101. As much as I love my Smith's, the SP101 gets the majority of my revolver carry duties.

That's certainly good news! I'm not usually one to purchase online so when I saw this I had to snatch it up. Buying like that makes it hard to get a feel for the market price at times.
