    410, 410S, 411, or 4040PD?

I would give the 411 a slight edge over the 410 due to the 411 having metal sights and guiderod. That being said, I would not pass up a nice 410 if I found a decent deal on one. Even S&W's "budget line" 3rd gens are more desirable than a lot of other stuff out there IMHO. You should be able to...

    Purchasing a Model 5906

I personally love the heft of the all SS 3rd gens. You know exactly waht you have when you wrap your mitts around one: a solid, well crafted hunk of steel that will digest even the cheapest of ammo. I don't think you can do any better than the 5906 for a basic range gun at the price they...

Once bitten, twice shy? Nope! New 4006...

Fantastic deal on the gold standard .40. Good for you finding a great value on Armslist. In my neck of the woods, everyone wants retail+ for their offerings.

    A good Day picked up a 4006

Anytime you can add the gun that was engineered for the wonderful .40, its a great day.

Finally, from layaway to my gun safe

Very cool gun. While I love SS, the dark horses(XX04's) really stand out in the 3rd gen stable.

    Which 3rd Gens to avoid

3rd gens are the polar opposite of politicians--nearly immposible to find a bad one in the bunch.

    Fourth S&W: 645 or 4506?

It doesn't matter which one you start with because eventually you will wind up with both.

    Happy Birthday to Me...

Happy B-day indeed! That's one slick looking pistol. I hope my wife asks me what I want for my B-day next time around:D

Don't you hate it when the price is too high?

I went to a local gun show this morning. Saw several S&W autos that I would love to add but just couldn't bring myslef to pay what they wanted. One was a really nice Lady Smith 3919 that the fellow wanted 500.00 for. It was nice enough but had only one mag and no box. Another was an "Allegedly...

Don't you hate it when the price is too high?

That 6906 looks a little too rough for that kind of money. Personally, I'd pass on this and wait for a nicer one at a better price.

    4506 followed me home (*UPDATED)

Some things are worth the wait. Looks to be in tip-top shape. Enjoy that wonderful pistol.

Just got my Shield 9mm tonight

^^^Very important. Give your brand new gun its best chance for success by getting out the heavy grease and replacing with a proper lube(CLP, Enos, Tetra, etc.)

    Nice 4566 for $349! DOB?

The size of the 4566 hits the sweet spot for me as do all the 4" SW 3rd gens. You got a very good deal on that one.

    LNIB 6906

I'd have grinned all the way home. Nothing like scoring a great gun at a killer price.

    School me on 5906s

5906 are solid, hefty pistols that are typically as reliable as anything out there. Accuracy is as good as many guns costing a lot more. $350 for a non-LEO trade gun sounds like a bargain. The grip can be noticeably altered by adding any number of aftermarket grips. I'm very pleased with the...

    New to me 5903

Congrats. I think you did quite well. That would be a $500-550 gun at the local Ganders:eek:

I'll definately raise a toast to our greatest heroes who truly gave it their all.

    411 added

Lawman90, it does indeed look like that promag. I have read nothing good about those. :eek:I think I'll try it out at the range just to see if its worth keeping strictly for that purpose. Fortunately I already have a number of 4006 factory mags that should work just fine. Thanks for the heads up.

    411 added

It is definately the same size as my other mags but you can see that some sort of limiter is built in about 2/3 the way towardss the base. I thought that this was kinda goofy since 10 rounders are compliant with any restrictions that I'm aware of. On a whim, I tried to see how many 9mm rounds I...
