I have a 642 with a trigger job and crimson trace grips and it is the perfect CCW. But now I've seen the 640 pro and I have to have it, real sights and there night sights, moon clip ready, full sized ejector rod, nice grips that cover the backstrap to handle the .357, and it's super cool looking...

congrats on an awesome revolver. I also have 1 I bought it 4 years ago and its my favorite revolver great trigger,sights, and it takes moonclips plus holds eight rounds you will love it when you shoot it.

i have a 642 which is hammerless just like the lcr. the lcr does have a nice smooth trigger better than the smith. i have a trigger job done on my smith from the factory that makes them pretty even, but outa the box the ruger has the better trigger.

Has anyone actually had personal experience with a gun with the IL failing to fire or locking up on it's own? Just curious.

I shoot hot rounds through my 642 all the time and have zero complaints on the recoil. It was actually much less than I expected. I've worked with my hands all my life so maybe that has something to do with it I dunno.

my 642 because it's the only .38 I got and I carry it a lot so I shoot it a lot. I'm going to put a crimson trace on it so I can shoot it even better. fun little gun it has a smith trigger job so the trigger is very smooth.

i own both and though i love my 629, my 627 pro is my favorite revolver 8-shots great trigger and alot of fun to shoot.

What's the difference between the 648 and the 651?

the 627 is the way to go I have 1 and love it. my buddy has the 686 and its a nice gun but the trigger on the 627 puts it over the top.

642 i had the same problem deciding the lcr is a nice gun and i was going to buy it til i found a 642 for the same price and it was supertuned by smith so i went with the 642. you can never go wrong with a smith revolver although the lcr does have a nice trigger pull on it. reminds me of a smith.

627 pro i've owned one for 1 and a half years and its my fav revolver by far. and i own several smiths and the price is great snatch it up
