Are they still making model 41's

If you are really serious about competition a Model 41 is a great investment. I bought mine because it is one of the best 22lr pistols made and I was fortunate enough to find one brand new and had the means to acquire it. I enjoy shooting and the quality and accuracy is top notch. I almost...

    S&W Semi-Auto Picture Thread

When I got a chance to purchase my Model 41 brand new a few years ago I couldn't pass it up and I was fortunate it was in stock. I've got some Nill walnut grips on it. Wolff springs and recoil buffer was also installed. I would never sell this gun...

Are they still making model 41's

I've never seen a new Model 41 in stock at Bud's Gun Shop for years after I bought mine back in 2007. I've done some searching online and only place that frequently have them is Gun Broker (NIB). I thought that S&W did stop making them but I guess these guns are pretty much sold before they...

Anybody use All-In-One cleaner/lubricants on revolvers?

I've been using Break Free CLP for years. Never see any reason to change.

    Problem with 686

Definitely shoot a new firearm prior to changing the original factory setup. BTW I've been learning how to work on my own firearms for a while now. I don't have any gunsmiths I know of locally and understanding how to detail strip, troubleshoot, and replace parts on my firearms is satisfying and...

    My collection of 41-1s

I was wondering, Aussie Collector, do you just collect these Model 41 or do you actually shoot them frequently/occasionally?

Commemoratives - Would you shoot them?

I would shoot the snot out of that gun. It would be a shame not to use it as it was designed for, shooting pleasure. Enjoy.

    Canted, over clocked barrels

This type of poor craftsmanship and quality control does cast a negative shadow on the company. I would be very disappointed if I waited for some time for a firearm only to return it because of a defect.

    Canted, over clocked barrels

Ouch! That shouldn't have left the factory that way.

    Price range for S&W 686 357

I have a Model 686 Plus with a 4" barrel which I purchased new about 8 years ago. I have the most fun with this gun at the range. It is very accurate and so easy to shoot. I tweaked the internals with a new rebound spring and mainspring. I also stoned the rebound slide. After thousands of rounds...

    Gotta stop carrying a revolver

Thanks for this post, brother. I guess after all these years of owning firearms I've been only concerned about staying in the 9 or 10 ring of my targets. I do have a few handguns that I am accurate with and with the only J frame I own (Model 638) I'm trying so hard (maybe too hard) to do that...

    Gotta stop carrying a revolver

The issues you presented in this thread I also mentioned in another thread in another forum. I mentioned that i thought the barrel is canted because my POI is about 8" from my POA and hitting low to the left. I know that shooting with the J frame sights are a challenge compared with what I am...

    model 41 age

Did you field strip it and clean it prior to shooting. If so, did you try a few brands of ammo to see how your new Model 41 would perform using different ammo. Was any modifications done to the pistol like changing out of springs? Good luck.

A few snubbies plus the newest addition.

Always wanted to get a Ruger SP101. Great set of revolvers.

    S & W PC Model 41 with Trijicon RM07-33

Sunbird: I would politely ask for a original manual as you did buy the brand new in box, right? As for tapping the muzzle with a mallet, when I first got my brand new Model 41 after dropping the magazine and releasing the trigger guard the barrel just lifted off. Never needed to tap the barrel...
