    Clint Eastwood or John Wayne?

Clint Eastwood, any day of the week. Besides, John Wayne was a trojan. -- Bruin Brian

Which Grips would you buy?? RB N-Frame .. .

I like Spegel grips, and BluMagnum. Both are traditional looking but with improved designs compared to the original Ropers.

    What do you all recommend?

The Standard Catalog referenced above is THE BOOK - very informative, lots of great color photos, and relatively current. I suggest you visit a few gun stores and handle several different revolvers. Tell the salesperson that you are a new shooter and want to look at a variety of S&Ws in J...

    Questions about Model 27

Thanks, Saxon Pig. Very interesting. Here's mine from that series, #1546. It has been converted to .44 Special by David Clements, and he added his front sight. It's in Virginia with Mr. Fishpaw right now, and I miss it! -- Brian

    What do you all recommend?

I'd start with a .22 then move up to a .38/.357 Ammo is 1/10th the price of centerfire, and you can work on your shooting skill without having to deal with heavier recoil and report. I bring one of my K-22s with me every time I go to the range to warm up and get into my routine.

Another Jinks letter Karma Winner picked last post!!!!!

Wow, very kind offer! This gun, although a post-61er, is of interest to me as one of a later batch of 5" barreled, nickel M27s used by FL Highway Patrol. Yes, it has been converted to .44 Special, which is completely appropriate for this vintage, if not for collectibility.

    M25-5 with Fishpaw grips

He's making some for me now. Waiting list was about three and a half years :) The other set I own are huge, made for someone with seriously big paws, and nicely tuliped at the top. They work nicely as target type grips, and live on my M57.

    Shooting my 1905 4th target

Nice! My 1905 has about the best action of any of my old Smiths, and is a pleasure to shoot. Looks like you are enjoying yours!

    Cleaning & oiling my S&W 5906

On my 5906, I lube the slide rails, the outside of the bbl lugs, and periodically but not every time, pivot points on the trigger and hammer, recoil guide and spring, the safeties, and mag release. Key is to apply lube sparingly; a little goes a long way. In some cases, such as the guide rod...

    M25-5 with Fishpaw grips

Thanks! The grips are French Walnut, and are eye popping. All the edges are smooth, mated edges are almost seamless, and feel in hand is terrific. I purchased these second hand off either this forum or the sixshooter board serveral years ago. Buying custom grips second hand can be risky, but...

    Back from the undead

Yes, the air is clean, people are genuine, and kids are safe(r). I do miss the mountains and oceans, though, and Tri-tip roasts... at least I've found some good Mexican semi-locally. -- Brian

    Your First S&W

5906, twenty years ago. Should have gone past the shiny new pistol straight over to the funny old revolvers, eh? -- Br.
