Another GB 66-5, but this was the Walther R99

Some of you were probably watching/bidding on this one. Prices really going up on these 3 inch model 66s. Cool grips, I wish someone would replicate them as they would work really well on a 686 too. RARE WALTHER R99 LA CHASSE SMITH & WESSON 66-5 3" STAINLESS GERMANY NO RES - Revolvers at...

Gunshow snooze lose today, 18-3, 19-3

It was actually the Eastman gun show in Gainesville. Interesting how times have changed. It was an event about 14 years ago, held at the large civic center downtown. 2 large rooms full, vendors down the main hall and atrium too. Always some tables of older guys showing their wares lots of...

Gunshow snooze lose today, 18-3, 19-3

Went to my first gun show today in about 10 years, guy in front of me had two revolvers he was looking to sell. 18-3 blued, no box, magna stocks. $700. Also had a 19-3 blued no box target stocks, $900. I had a shot at the 18-3 which was clean but I walked around for 5 minutes too long. He traded...

    4 inch Model 17 breaks $2k

Some of you may have been following this auction. I was in until about $1200. Condition was excellent but the interest was in the 4 inch barrel. Curious to hear the thoughts of the collectors of models 17 and 18 on this forum. Ultra Rare Smith & Wesson Model 17-6 4" .22LR Original Box Collector...

For a shooter, what would most of you guys consider a good price for a 4 inch Pre-18? Considering the current full lug lock guns in 617 configuration are going for about $900, would you buy a similarly priced vintage gun in 98% to shoot regularly?

S&W 686 with 4.2" barrel- what do people think?

Yesterday, snubnose. Today, Evil Short Pistol.

Special run Jim Cirillo Smith and Dan Wesson hybrid

Yes, the barrel gap can be set where you want it. The barrel shroud is a bit harder to keep from turning in comparison to the DW revolvers I had previously, so I usually leave it alone. I think it's set at either 0.03 or 0.05" IIRC.

Iggy, sounds like you may have one of these yourself?

Special run Jim Cirillo Smith and Dan Wesson hybrid

I have an interesting gun that is clearly a post-lock Smith frame mated to a Dan Wesson barrel assembly. This is a gun completed by the Dan Wesson shop before the CZ takeover, while Bob Serva was still running DW. It seems that Dan Wesson got some of their frames and/or slides for a while from...

How does Buffalo Bore do it?

Probably the majority of shooters are either new or occasional at best. If a guy shoots manufacturer A's 357 or 44 magnum and it is downloaded, he feels like a real man and buys some more to shoot. If it pounds him into tomorrow, he buys brand B next time.

Will S&W still fit a new cylinder to a 25-5?

Do they use the newer style extractor star? I've had some problems with consistent extraction of the 45 Colt cases.

Question on load matching 9x23 Win. 125 gr silvertips ?

The original load from Winchester was too hot, per one of the major proponents of the round, Dane Burns. I personally have experienced a 25% blown primer rate, with recurrent plugging of the firing pin hole, using the first run of ammo. The more recent batches were not so out of control.

45 Colt load that is close to 44 mag

I love shooting my Smith model 25-5. However, extraction of empty cases is hit or miss. This does not happen with my 44 magnum guns. The 45 Colt case was designed with single action type extraction in mind after all.

    K-22 or Model 17?

I have a question for those of you in the know. I have a very nice 6 inch 22LR with serial number K324442. According to the S&W book, this would make it a 1958, but should also make it a model 17, right? It is not marked with "17" anywhere on the frame, so I am assuming this is a ....K-22...

    Model 18 pricing

What is the collective experience of the members regarding recent prices of model 18 revos? I almost bid on a very good example on Gunbroker yesterday, but it was without a box and still went for mid-$600's. I have a local pawn shop dealer who wants $495 for a well used example, also without...

N frame crane wear, model 25-5

I purchased a good condition shooter 25-5, and upon full teardown for cleaning found that the crane notch has been worn a good bit by the front frame screw. Any options besides either leavng it as is or replacing? does S&W still work on these for reasonable rates? thanks in advance.
