    Model 43

I was at the Indy 1500 gun show last week looking at various j frames. One dealer had a very nice example in the box, but he wanted $850.00. I carefully put the gun down, and walked off. They are neat, but not that neat. $500.00 for a clean example is about right. There aren't many for sale.

Need a smith for a Smith

I recently inherited a Fourth Model .32 DA. It looks almost new, but the lock up doesn't hold the cylinder in place when loaded. It works fine when unloaded. Also, in the cocked position, the trigger requires too much movement and pressure to release the hammer. I am wondering if this is worth...

    Model 31-1 ?

31-1 value I have two LNIB Model 31-1's in 3 inch barrel. They both cost more than the asking price of the one you are looking at. I like them because they are accurate, have low recoil and low noise. They also are well balanced, and good looking. Even my novice shooter wife found one easy to...

    Early 36

Model 36.....not I think what you are looking at is either a model 33, or a model 32. The 38 s&w cartridge is actually larger in diameter than the 38 special. The guns look alike, but are marked on the barrel as to ammo type.

    Bad CCI Ammo

bad ammo replaced I contacted CCI/Speer about the bad ammo, and they suggested I return the product to them for examination. After reviewing the returned ammo, they contacted me and said it all passed their quality control proceedures. They also returned 3 boxes of 50 to me to cover my loss and...

    Please explain this to me...

Older revolvers have a pin that prevents the barrel from rotating during use. Later versions don't have the pin, which is evedence of less workmanship. My experience is that it makes no difference, except as to value. However, my confidence in S&W increases as the age of the gun increases, so I...

    Bad CCI Ammo

Thanks for the help. I cleaned the cylinders before loading. I had two boxes of fifty, and only 45 of 100 would load properly. The rim did not drop in, but could be pushed in by hand. Once the brass was inserted it was very difficult to eject the shells. Also, the gun looks unfired, it may be...

    Bad CCI Ammo

Thanks for the thought. If my company had made it, I would want to make it right, so maybe they would, also.

    Bad CCI Ammo

I just bought two boxes of CCI 22WMR HP ammo at a local gun show. When I got home, I attempted to test fit it in my S&W Model 51 and only about 45 of 100 rounds would drop into the cylinder recess. It looks like the lot no. is "E25R25". The oversize rounds can be forced into place, but then the...

    2" J frame .22 revolvers

Model 63 Prices I should have mentioned that the 63's and the 34 ar 4" barrels. I haven't familiarized myself with the 2" barrel. I've seen it quoted that a revolver's value goes up as barrel length goes down. I'm going to a show tomorrow. maybe I can do some price comparisons, but I haven't...

    2" J frame .22 revolvers

I have purchased two excellent model 63's in the last month. An early high polished ss was $550, a later brushed was $600, I also bought a perfect nickle 34-1 at $580.00. Typical asking prices at local gun shows are $625.00 to $775.00. I haven't seen prices as low as $400 to $500. Perhaps it's a...

    .38 S&W

I've had good luck finding the ammo at gun shows from "private" manufacturers. When you find one, get his phone numberfor future orders. They know the guns need a light load, based on my inquiries. Some of them will sell and ship. I think you will enjoy shooting the S&W .38 due to its accuracy...
