    Ladysmith 65 3"

Bought one of them there 65 Ladysmiths for wife's birthday about 15 years ago. Price was right around $600. Tuned it and it's still her most favorite gun. I really like it, but havin' to be manly about it I went for a 3" M13.

    Best J frame 357

So completely with you on this one. Been saying the same for years. My u&c carry round for a .357/.38 J-frame is the 125 std pressure fed ny-clad. I will go +P gold dot in a Model 60 I shoot particularly comfortably. .357 in a LW J-frame makes it just about a single shot revolver in a rapid...

    .357 hurts my ears

Many, many years of unmuffled gunfire and aircraft engines. No one had a grip on how not good this was back in the day. Tinnitus for life, but luckily still have reasonably decent hearing.

    .357 hurts my ears

OP...Methinks you prolly ought to understand the revolvers you're considering buying better. Learning how to shoot them wouldn't hurt, either.

    Any model 34 out there

Best kit gun ever made. Those that have them know that, which is why it's hard to find any on sale.

    .45LC or .45ACP

Understand that. I've always considered .45 Colt a nice/secondary/recreational cartridge. Hard to justify spending practical $$ on sometimes.

Anyone carry their 3" J-frame in shoulder holster?

Used to...horizontal...*******. Don't anymore due to changes in dress and body shape.

    642 VS 442

442 production dates to early/mid '90s and are blue only. Suppose it's possible you could have an early production one-off. If so, don't sell it.

Need info on .22 Smith revolver

I had a Model 34 once. Sold it...stupid me. Besides simply being about the best kit guns ever, they're continuing proof that small frame rimfire revolvers don't need ridiculously heavy triggers to function properly.

    Can't Decide. Model 317 or LCP .22

Awww....kinda off post, but I just gotta say this. I had this same problem. Basically a Smith guy looking for/needing a small frame .22 DA kit gun revolver but not particularly happy with what I was finding in new production stuff...Smith or Ruger. Happened on a nice mid '60s High Standard...

Did I really need another 3" K frame?

Three inch barreled J-frames are just wrong. Throws off the whole balance of the gun. Three inch barrels are only suitable for K-frames. Sell that gun immediately, before you become addicted. Edit...Oops, sorry. Wasn't paying proper, or apparently any, attention to what I was reading. Three...

    Model 442

Faithful old 442 is my edc casual gun. Kahr PM9 for more serious concealed carry use.

Metal Injection Molding - MIM - Why The General Dislike?

But, as noted, an ugly looking and often cheap feeling gun is still an ugly looking, cheap feeling gun no matter what it costs nor how well it works. It's called an appliance. Many of us gun folk prize form as well as function.

What has happened to Smith And Wesson?

Welcome or not to "new Smith". I bought my first new Smith revolver in maybe 15 years about six months ago. While I had no real performance issues, given the build quality of mine your problems sadly do not surprise me. Fortunately there are plenty of used, real Smiths out there.

    A Battered, Loyal Friend

Interesting. I was sorta thinkin' I was alone on this forever love my old faithful 442 thingy.

Are Model 64s Plus P rated?

Not a silly question. Clicked on this thread 'cause I wasn't totally sure either.

    S&W M29 & 629 or the 629 Mountain Gun...Your Choice on a Hog Trip??

I've always kinda liked the Mountain Guns, but no longer own one. For back country/hunting back-up side arms I prefer s/a Rugers. They handle much better in large caliber heavy loads, at least for me.

    640 / 940 question

9mm will shoot "loose" in a .38/.357 barrel. I wouldn't feel comfortable attempting the reverse for pressure reasons. Especially with jacketed or hard cast bullets. Plus, as noted above, irreversibly altering a perfectly good 940 is, or should be, a federal crime.
