    Looking for a better way

Rifle brass gets the homemade lube, 90% ISO-heet gas treatment mixed with 10% pure lanolin. The pistol rounds get a very light coating of Hornady One-shot as they are going through carbide dies. The One-shot makes re-sizing much easier.

The rules and the game changed....

I'm pretty much done with bare cast bullets. The coated or plated bullets work much better for me.

    Stepping back to single stage

Even though I have a progressive, my Rockchucker isn't going anywhere. I use it for my precision 223 and other rifle cases. The output of a single stage can be increased somewhat by helping the press to unload itself. Many years ago RCBS sold an accessory for the Rockchucker called the Case...

    Old Timers Advice, Interested?

I've used the Rockchucker since the '70s when my dad taught me how to handload. I used it today. I've been using the Hornady AP for about 8 months. I used it today. Since I usually go through 400+ rounds on each trip to the range a little efficiency is needed on the pistol and AR ammo. The .223...

    bench design

Best thing I did for my bench was some reinforcement..;) 3/4" steel plate for press mounting. Zero bench flex with this. Untitled by zweitakt250, on Flickr The spot to the left of the AP can be used for a single stage, or my bench mounted auto priming tool. Untitled by zweitakt250, on...

    Hornady LNL Powder Through Expander

I use the PTX setup for .40 and .38. I use a Lyman M die for .30 carbine. My PTXs work great. Here is a write up I did about making the AP run better: The rest of the thread, which has some good info, can be found on your favorite black rifle website..;)

Basic Dies For Pistol Ammo on Progressive Loaders

Option C doesn't work. No such thing as size/expand in the same die. On my Hornady AP loading .38 it goes: 1. Decap/FL size 2. Open 3. Powder through/Expand 4. Bullet feed 5. Seat/Crimp Many prefer to seat and crimp separately. Rifle ammo needs to be done in two passes.

My reason for joining the S&W forum.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. As far as a select fire IZh-35m I'm not so worried. The pistol is correct now, and the number of 35m's with doubling problems are many. If this were the point of ATF they could set up shop at Camp Perry and arrest everyone who had a slamfire. I really do...

My reason for joining the S&W forum.

Took the gun to the range yesterday to try some reloads I had made. 38spl with 148gr DEWC over 3.2 grains of HP-38. Not only is the revolver pretty, it will shoot. The 7 o'clock nine is mine. Not the guns. Untitled by zweitakt250, on Flickr The grips felt pretty good. I look forward to...

    Gun Show Find Pre 27 3 1/2"

It was made about the same time my Pre-27 was built! Beautiful!

My reason for joining the S&W forum.

I can't help but think about my dad when shooting or cleaning or working on this .357. The IZh shot too much when I pulled the trigger, like two or three times with one pull!! It shoots well, now. For some time it had the doubling problem, which is common in the 35m. I made a tool to...

My reason for joining the S&W forum.

Thanks! Since my dad is the one who chose the engine turning on the trigger/hammer I will keep them as is. I know the Hogues are a bit much, but I plan to shoot this gun quite a bit and I'm a bit particular about my grip fit. I did the fitting and stippling on these grips for my target pistol...

My reason for joining the S&W forum.

I joined the forum to learn more and share about my Pre-27 that my father left to me. Unfortunately we didn't talk a whole lot about this gun. I only figured out what it was just the other day thanks to info here. I think my dad may have purchased the revolver brand new, what I know for sure is...
