    Find of the century!!!

Wasn’t intended that way. I really love the old Smith semi autos, so this was a huge find for me. I could easily buy all of the ones I want from gunbroker, but I prefer to find them in the wild as they come available. It’s a hobby for me. To find this pistol in an unfired condition was a big...

    Find of the century!!!

Admittedly, “Find of the century” may have been a bit over the top, I was just excited. I got the pistol for $300, with the original box.

    Find of the century!!!

I love the old smith auto pistols. Today I found the best one yet. A 1994 model 915 that’s never been fired or carried. Not a scratch on it.

For Sale. Nearly Flawless Model 59 $450

Got this a few months ago. It's in to perfect of shape to carry. Been a safe queen for 40 years, so it really isn't for me. It's a model 59, I was told by the seller when I got it it's a 1972, I'm not certain on that. Does not have original grips, comes with two magazines. On gunbroker they...

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Well, you may consider this treason but the 4516 no longer my problem. Put it up for sale and it's gone. I appreciate all your input, and I did inform the new owner of the issues I've been having with it.

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Added a 17# recoil spring. It slightly helped, but still getting failure to return to battery occasionally. Also, still feels like the slide is slapping closed and bouncing. I'm just frustrated. Now I'm carrying my basically museum quality model 59 because I can't trust my 4516. I really do...

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Heavier recoil seems to help a little, but the problem is not fixed. Anyone wanna buy a 4516?...... Tired of messing with it.

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Finally was able to talk to a smith at Wolff springs today. His opinion is the same as Bill said. Recoil spring is too light. He said a 15# spring must have been sent with my pack. He is sending me a new 16# and a 17# spring free of charge, and I just got shipping confirmation. Hopefully, this...

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Looked into this more, I ordered the kit specific to the 4516-1 from Wolff, not sure exactly the weight of the spring they send. I've emailed Wolff about that. Also, I no longer have the old spring, it was tossed at the gunsmith shop. I thought I'd kept it, but I didn't, lesson learned there...

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Bill, thank you for all of the info. I will order a calibration pack from wolf and go from there. Not sure what the rating is on the current spring. I ordered the wolf complete replacement kit for the 4516, this is the recoil spring that came in the kit.

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Bill, it's a 4516-1, here's a photo of the guide rod and new recoil spring. When I first got this gun I put 400 rounds through it with no issues. Not knowing how many thousands of rounds it's fired I figured a new set of springs was a good investment. Kind of regretting that now.....

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Bill, I can do both. It's a 4516-1, pic coming momentarily.

New springs in my 4516 causing problems

Took my 4516 to a gunsmith and he installed a wolf complete spring kit. Including new mag springs. Took her out today and have issues. Failure to return to battery and at times it seems like after the slide closes fully it's actually bouncing back. I was using cheap ammo tulammo and WWB, but...

    Newest Addition. Model 59

Being a lefty I wish it had ambi controls like the older generations do, but I love it. Can't wait to get out and shoot. No idea what it's worth, but to me it's priceless. Just feeling my addiction. Lol

    Newest Addition. Model 59

I am definitely interested. That was going to be my first job this weekend, to find a set of original grips. I have the pachmyer grips on my 5904 that I carry, but this one is in perfect condition so I likely won't ever carry it. I'd love to have a set of original grips on it. Thanks!

    Newest Addition. Model 59

Looks like she's been sitting in a safe since 1972. Not a scratch. No holster wear, just pure beauty.

    Gun value question

Since this question covers a revolver and an auto I put it here. I have a coworker with an old 1917 revolver stamped property of the United States government and a model 52 auto in .38 caliber. Both are for sale. I'm planning on owning both very soon. Just wondering what a fair price would be. I...

Recent additions to the 3rd gen family

I have a 4516 as my carry gun. I named her "Shelly" after my ex girlfriend, because she's beautiful and can totally destroy the hearts of men. She's currently at my gunsmith for a week getting all new springs. Spring kit was $22 from wolf, he's charging $25 to put them in. Seems a small...
