I have owned a 3913 since around 1995, it has always been my favorite gun. It has a couple of battle scars from a holster mishap many years ago, nothing too horrible but still enough to bother me a bit. So.. After many years I have decided to add to the 3rd gen family. About a month ago I picked up this very nice 4506-1 at the LGS, box, papers and 2 mags $550 out the door.

Went to the local gun show today and found a nice 4516-2, dealer said it was owned by a new jersey state trooper, light handling marks and very clean. Dealer was asking $480, got the gun for $400 OTD. Looking forward to getting out to the range to try it out.

So...I already have my eye on a local 4013, I might need some help. Is their a support group on this forum for 3rd gen addicts? :)

It is not an addiction, it is an investment. On any given day, more than likely if need be, you can sell it all and get at least 99% of your money back, at a bare minimum. However, if you don't have to sell, enjoy them for all they are worth!

Brother, it's not going to get better unless you go to rehab. Say it with me, "we came to believe that we were powerless over first, second, and third gen Smith and Wesson Semi-autos and that we needed a power greater than ourselves to save us." Keep coming back, it works when you work it. Call your sponsor. Get to meetings.

Just remember, no one likes a quitter. ;)

I have a 4516 as my carry gun. I named her "Shelly" after my ex girlfriend, because she's beautiful and can totally destroy the hearts of men. She's currently at my gunsmith for a week getting all new springs. Spring kit was $22 from wolf, he's charging $25 to put them in. Seems a small investment in a weapon I trust my life to daily. I like to work on my own stuff, but for my carry gun I'm leaving it to the expert.

My smith is also a dealer, he's searching for a 4506 for me. They are available on gunbroker, but I've lost trust in that site. I'm convinced sellers are bidding also to drive the price up. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.....

Great purchases. The 4506 is a great range gun. (Or home defense...or..) I can shoot mine as my accurately as my SA 1911. I sold my 4516 to an in state forum member but soon realized the error and picked one up last week at a gun show. Mine was also $400 OTD gun only 2mags. The 4516 being all steal is also easy to shoot and keep on target.

Yeah, I would love to collect them all, but with all the different varieties that would be one heck of a collection! Now I just found out the owner of a LGS personally owns a 1006 which is kind of my holy grail gun. I asked him if it was for sale and he said everything is for sale for the right price. I did not pursue it any farther right now, I know what that answer usually means! But it has been rolling around in my head. :)

Welcome to the Forum, 3rdgenZen!

You'll find plenty of great information here about your ....er...."interest area" of S&W products, and your fellow addic...er...."interest area afficionados" will be happy to guide, inform, cajole, and enable you in your quest.

Great handle, by the way.

Thanks vigil, I appreciate your support! I figured group therapy was the way to go! ;)
