    Please recommend some defensive rounds

BUFFALO-BARNES LEAD-FREE 357 Mag Low Flash-Short Barrel Pistol & Handgun Ammunition When it is loaded for the house or when the wife is carrying I have these. Less recoil, noise and flash but still plenty of energy.

    Concealed Carry Comfort

Now, given I am a huge fan of comfort and often carry a 22 mag pocket gun I do at times carry a double stack 45 in Florida in the heat. I wear a compression T-shirt as an inner layer with an untucked cotton T or polo over it. I use an IWB at 5:00 tucked into shorts that have a belt. It is...

    Question for instructors

I am not sure I see a lesson here except perhaps keep your gun loaded or at the very least keep a loaded magazine? Perhaps the lesson is to think outside the box or maybe not put yourself in the box in the first place. Yes, you fight like you train but why in the world would I have an unloaded...

How Do You Decide What to Carry

Daily carry involves a couple Emerson knives and a 650 lumen pocket Streamlight. As I work on a military base I cannot legally carry a firearm there. Daily stuff away from work that is pretty low threat gets the pocket gun which is a American Arms 22 magnum. Longer Trips or unknown threat...

Have you actually used a weapon in an SD situation.

I am a photographer as well and often have four grand worth of gear on my back. I used to dress to look like a homeless guy when I would shoot alone in NYC.

Have you actually used a weapon in an SD situation.

I haven't had any incidents in 20 years which may be why I willing to talk so openly about them now. Perhaps I live a more charmed life now or maybe as a relative old guy my spidy senses are more developed and avoid stuff subconsciously.... I had one that was caused by a hotel clerk making the...

Glad you are still around and I would certainly buy divine intervention.

Have you actually used a weapon in an SD situation.

So it's not buried in my long post, I don't think it was required as self defense but I would have shot him just on principle for letting me step on him and I actually like snakes.

Have you actually used a weapon in an SD situation.

I would say a dog most certainly counts as they can certainly inflict some serious damage. I suppose a rattlesnake would count though you can always just step away from them once you see them. I truly believe it is much much better to avoid a situation in the first place than rely on physical...

Have you actually used a weapon in an SD situation.

It is not something often reported by the media unless the situation escalates to the point where deadly force is actually used. My guess is many if not most situations that are de-escalated because of the threat of deadly force do not even get reported. Have you had such a situation that you...

Better to Aim 642 or Point Shoot?

I am a huge fan of point shoot. Beyond ten feet I will start using the sights depending on the target and distance and IRL, the situation. Bring the gun up to use the sights on a target inside ten feet you could have some serious issues with weapons retention. (If the BG has training in...

Knowledge, the most powerful tool when carrying concealed

Oh, yeah, we are in total agreement I was just continuing my rant. Our local legislator to the state house is running on a pro-gun platform this year. (Gun rights are suddenly a huge part of the political platform this year across the country, imagine that.) While he is still a candidate and...

New 929 owner and I broke it first day at the range

It was the OP's first revolver and mistakes happen. I have never shot a revolver with a moon clip or rimless ammo myself even though I have been shooting revolvers for 30 years. If it were mine I would send it back to Smith but that is just me.

Knowledge, the most powerful tool when carrying concealed

Or Good Guys so long as they are not carrying as part of their job. (LEOs excluded of course.) I could carry a 357 loaded with magnum rounds as a private citizen but not as a security guard or PI.

New 929 owner and I broke it first day at the range

I am sure someone will be along that can guess at the price. I am pretty sure all the revolvers shooting 45 acp only shoot 45 acp and any ammo made primarily for an auto need a clip in the revolvers. The multi calibers in 45 shoot 45 colt and 410 and in some the 454 Casull.
