I got back from the range today, and was looking my guns over. The barrel ports on the 9 Shield PC had hard caked carbon all around them. I decided to do a little pre-cleaning.
Hoppes #9 took most of it off, but there was still a little that was stubbornly hard caked on. I made a mental note to get some "Carbon Killer" and clean my brass brush.
Then I slathered on some Slip 2000 EWL to protect it. The burned on carbon just dissolved under my finger, then wiped right off with a rag. No need for "Carbon Killer".
When I clean it, I'll be liberal with the Slip 2000 in that area, and add some more every once in a while. Should make the next cleanup a lot easier.
