Recently purchased a 2.0 compact and it is shooting about 6” low at 15 yds.

Anyone else having this issue

I'll take a stab at this, but mine is a shield 1.0, 9mm.....some here helped me with this...you need to use the combat point of aim hold. I raise the center sight to cover the target using the point of aim hold, and solid proper grip.....dead on......with mine

It’s a compact in 9mm. Have used poa poi for 40 yrs. All my other s&w’s are set up that way. My Glocks also. Was using std 115 gr ball Winchester white box.

Was a firearms instructor for 23 yrs for a federal agency. Don’t believe it’s me causing the issue.

Oh Boy, 40 years @ POI/POA and 23 years Firearms instructor and you're asking us?

Are you using factory sites ? if you want to raise POI consider different height sites to raise POI

Your ammo 115 MC target ammo, what are you using 2.0 for, have you tried faster H.P. or heavier weights? Some issues with M & P shooting low is trying 147 gr HP's.

You would think after all you're years wouldn't ask a "newbie" question. handguns like rifles like certain loads just have to find the sweet spot with that ammo. If not, call S &W return it for new barrel and have them test fire it before return but 6" low is not acceptable in my world.

I have a 2.0 Compact in 9mm and usually shoot 115 gr ball ammo at 10 yds, occasionally 25 yds. It is the most accurate handgun I own with the factory sights. I'd have to think something is not right with your gun.

Whenever I have a doubt of this kind, I ask one of my more experienced friends to see how they do with it. So far, 10/10 times it's been me. However, I'm not an instructor with a lot of experience, just thought this might help in some way.

My 9mm Compact 2.0 is shooting very low @ 10 yards with 115 gr. full metal jacket MagTech ammo. I'm sure a good deal of the problem is related to the painful trigger's very tight radius and my big trigger finger pulling down as the shot is taken. Will call Apex ... May get a flat trigger only & try to find someone to install it.

While my M&P 9 Compact is not a tack driver, I can put 8 rounds of Lawman 124 TMJ in the 10 ring at 10 yards. Several thousand rounds down range. The 124 round seems to be the sweet ammo for me.

Combat sights.

S&W does this on all the M&P pistols - the front dot is where the bullet will go.

The question comes up on this forum a lot.

Was just trying to ascertain if this was a common problem with this model. Or if they were ammunition finicky. My other plastic guns are Glock 19’s and they don’t have this issue with any ammunition.

I’m aware I may have to replace the front sight with a shorter blade or install a taller rear.

I have some WWB 124 NATO I’ll try in it to see if it’s ammo related.

I appreciate everyone’s input. Never too old to learn. Always open minded to to any point that is put forward.

When I first got mine I was shooting low. I changed the backstrap to a larger size and concentrated on my trigger control. After a few tries I learned to shoot it pretty well. It's still not the most accurate pistol for me, but it is acceptable.

The 2.0 compact has a pretty good trigger pull, but it feels different than your Glocks. The grip angle is also different than that of Glocks. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to the gun?

If you shoot it several times and it still shoots low then it may be time to call S&W and see what they have to say.

Let someone that has a M&P 2.0 Compact 9mm shoot your gun.

I have a M&P 2.0 9mm Compact with standard sights and it shoots
POA at 15 yards.

I like it 100% more then my Glock 19

Stay Safe

Not all pistols are going to shoot right where you want with the first ammo tried.
Some are quick to say, "well it must be you, let someone else try it".
That someone else isn't going to be the one packing the pistol, you are.

If you are set on using a certain bullet weight, changing out the front sight for a different height is an option, but not so easy if you have invested in night sights.

If it shoots way low with 115 grain, I'd try 124 grain. If it still shoots low, try some 147 grain. The heavier/slower you go, the higher it will hit on the target.

When I got a 9mm barrel for my PC .40 Shield, 115 grain hit about 6 inches low. And yes, I was covering the bull with the front blade.
I tried 124 grain, and was hitting 2 1/2-3 inches low.
I then bought some 147 grain, and they hit dead on.

It sucks though, that my full-size MP9 hits dead on with 115 grain, so I can't stock up on one weight for both.
All of them have TFO's, so it's not that easy just to change out the front sight.

My 2.0 M&P9 3.6" has the same issue. Shoots noticeably low off hand or off sandbags. Didn't matter if it was stock barrel, wilson, stormlake, 115, or 124 gr bullets. Was hoping the ameriglo I-Dots would help some, but they didn't.

What is your sight picture?
