I KNOW that stronger aftermarket magazine springs are available for the M&P 10mm 2.0 pistol.

- MY QUESTION is, has S&W upgraded to stronger magazine springs since this pistol first came out?

I just picked up a new 10mm 15 round mag from Midway and it has a noticeably stronger spring that my other mags.. May ping S&W and ask about replacing the springs in the other mags. I haven't had any issues to date so maybe the point is mute.

Thanks for the info.

My M&P 10mm 4.6" was bought new in March of 2022.
I've only had trouble when I tried to fire some old Double Tap 200 grain Hard Cast with the wide flat bullet.

It would always either eject the magazine or jam with the bullet end jammed against the upper opening of the chamber.

It seems like a stronger magazine spring would be the first thing I should try since S&W has upgraded to stronger magazine springs since mine was manufactured.

do we know for sure S&W went to stronger springs, like part # change?

That's the question...
Over the last several months, I've seen posts in various places from people who say they seem to be stronger then the earlier ones.
And I see posts from people saying switching to stronger magazine springs helped them.

And being that if S&W officially admitted they went to a stronger magazine spring would likely cause a flood of people wanting new magazine springs, it's still anybody's guess what the truth is.

My 4" M&P 10mm was bought in February of 23 and its magazines are pretty stout. I use to hear guys all the time saying how great Upula magazine loaders were and I thought those guys were a bunch of sissies! I've owned dozens of semi auto handguns and never had any trouble loading them. Well, after loading my new M&P 10mm a couple of times I joined the sissy club and bought an Upula.

So far my gun has been 100 percent reliable.

Mine was bought new in March of 2022, and I got two additional magazines a month or so later.

Mine were never too hard to load using just my fingers.

I took all four of them apart a little while ago, here's a picture of the spring in one of them.

I ALSO measured the spring wire thickness and got 0.0515".

Could you, OR ANYBODY READING THIS WHO HAS A RECENTLY PURCHASED MAGAZINE, pop your magazine open and see if the spring looks the same, AND measure the spring wire thickness?

This way I can see if they're any different today than they were in the early days.
A BIG THANK YOU TO ANYBODY WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THIS.
